Hiding the PHB from players - Cool or Restrictive?

    The very idea disturbs me.

    Lost S04E12 - 15 May 08 - Theres No Place Like Home

I think that if the merc dude is on the island and the C4 is rigged to him, the "time dilation" will give those on the boat a chance to escape. But who knows? Signals are instant, but people traveling isn't.

    House Rules

For KotS, none I think. To allow us to get used to the new rules. For a campaign I might run, I think dragonborn just don't fit into my world.

How often are you visiting the WoTC boards?

When I had time to play DDM, all the time (but just the DDM forum). Now, never.

    Lost S04E12 - 15 May 08 - Theres No Place Like Home

Now I think we might know how the Black Rock got to be in the center of the island. I can't help but think next season will be either them getting back on the island, or at least trying to.

    Woot

Congrats! Did you use a masterwork or magic ring?

    Bah! Foiled again!

Back in 2E my players were so darned clever I just threw things at them with no "special" way out. They always found a way out.

    Players reading the MM

People have a right to read books, even their own. There is an understood no-no that no one should pull out the MM during a session, and no player in my group would use knowledge their PC wouldn't have. Just because we know what can easily kill a rakshasa, doesn't mean that my level 1 fighter...

    raistlin's "magestones"

There's a retro review of it in a recent Knights of the Dinner Table as well.

    Dude, Where's my ENWorld?

Wow, me and ENWorld have a lot in common.

So my game was cancelled tonight

I used to force the players to let others in the group control their PC's and get half XP. If the PC died, oh well. You shoulda been there. Now I just modify the game to work with those who show and no XP.

    A Doubters Review

The number of modifiers has been a concern of mine since they released the sneak peek at the paladin special abilities a few months ago. Thus the OP has confirmed my fears. In my experience, putting more work on the players is usually not the best plan. But we're still going to give 4E a good...

    Front-liners

I think your best option is a knight who specializes in defense. AC and hp are all you have, but that's all you asked for.

    Non-core Gestalt Options

Warmage/Scout - this combo makes Acid Splash painful (1d3 + warmage edge + 1d6 skirmish right off), and the Orb spells become even more broken.

    Githyanki Rivals?

Ya know, those saggy skin elbows have always freaked me out. To keep on topic: The githgith They're the githiest giths that ever githed

Test of Mettle vs. Test of Mettle

Those 2 don't mesh. :2: means that the first Test of Mettle is ended by the attempt of the second. And :3: means that both Tests remain active.

Test of Mettle vs. Test of Mettle

What happens when two knights use Test of Mettle against the same target? :1: Do both work and the target gets to pick if he fails both saves? :2: Does the initiation of the second cancel the first because it's an attack (save or not)? :3: The most recent one the target fails the save...

How many sessions does it take for your group to complete an "adventure"?

It varies depending on the kind of adventure I'm running, but the usual result is one more session than I initially expect.

    Gestalting

Yes, but a lot of DM's get rid of that restriction anymore.
