Carnifex's Story Hour (Updated January 20th, "The Union")

:D Don't worry, coming up you get to see theRuinedOne's character, Cazamir, get battered, burned and generally knocked about a fair bit :) All I need say at this point is 'Crystal Eye' and 'critical hit' in combination with each other, I think :)

Steam and Steel - A Guide to Fantasy Steamworks - extra teaser posted 4/27/04

Well, I can't really answer this question very well - you'll need either Dextra or Hellhound for a more definitive response. I do know that it will definitely be pdf, possibly print on demand as well? I'd love for a proper print run of course, but that's just me :)

    Yuan Ti?

It seems to be a trend of those kinda articles on the website. They just add some class levels and slap on a bizarre template, then present it as if its a masterpiece of cunning NPC design. I dunno, I find those 'Elite Opponents' things as rather lacking in effort on the part of the writers...

Which of WotC's 2004 D&D sourcebooks are you currently planning to buy?

To those associating steampunk with Eberron, I don't think we've had any evidence at all as yet that there's even steam technology, yet alone a steampunk feel to it. The 'lighting rail' thing may well just be magitech. And there are dinosaurs in other settings too, I think, so its hardly an...

[hivemind]the insanity of sleep deprived burnination

Greets Hive. I've updated my story hour once more, this time with 'The Ironjack's Tale'. And Steam & Steel has been mentioned on the front page of the news section! :D More publicity!

How vivid is the violence in your game?

Depends on whether I want to play up the feel of the violence or not. In my online game violence is often somewhat vivid since its so focused on writing and story and I have time to describe each hit - still, I don't go into too much detail unless I really want to make a point. For instance, the...

Carnifex's Story Hour (Updated January 20th, "The Union")

And another Cazamir update - we'll be getting back to Wolf's Company soon though... :) As Cazamir asked his question, the acolytes moved to slightly different positions around the afflicted man to tend to him, and the monk finally saw his arm. It ended just below the elbow, where the flesh...

    Why Planescape?

I'm not sure where you get the idea that the fiends of PS were non-evil. They were all scheming, malevolent and generally really nasty. There weren't fiends who ran coffee shops with 'evil' coffee. If a fiend ran a shop, it was something really unpleasant, and you had to be damn careful about...

    Iron Kingdom's whats going on!!!!

To be fair, I don't think it's like they suddenly stopped working on the rpg side of things when they put together Warmachine. And Warmachine is far from 'lame-ass'. It's an excellent game with very good miniatures sculpted for it. I think you're not giving them credit where it's due.

    Why Planescape?

And this is why I like Planescape - because it is nothing like what you've detailed above. Planescape is *not* anywhere near the same as planehopping with a bunch of battle-minded characters from the material plane. It strongly emphasises the fact that doing that kinda thing is not very clever...

Carnifex's Story Hour (Updated January 20th, "The Union")

The collection of sages came to an agreement as they muttered acceptance of Joahn's proposal. Two days travel to the Grumandic monastery and then a single day to the tower itself; at least it meant that the journey would be over soon. They were surprisingly fit considering their age but this...

[Hivemind] Snow falling on Computer Towers while Neon Lights Blink Away

Urgh, I'm in a mood where I could quite happily maul someone. I never realised that actually successfully getting tickets to go and see Return of the King would cause quite so much trouble.

High Level Characters, Psychology and their impact on Society

Well I dunno. In most campaigns, there are these guys called gods :p I think generally, that religions with divine spellcasters and direct manifestations of deific will are a pretty good counterbalance to high level characters. If needed, a considerable deal of divine might can be manifested...

The Scars Run Deep (Updated - 3/29/2004)

:p :D Heheheh... Cazamir vs. Behemoth... ;) Anyways, nothing wrong with using pics from Nat Geo, I've just now got this image in my head of knights complaining that badly maintained motorways are meaning they have to keep on changing their steed's horseshoes :p
