An Evil DM Trick Statted: Undead Babies

You sir, are one sick man. But seriously, don't ever run these things. Not because of their power, or how gruesome they are, but because of the torrent of dead baby jokes that will follow. For an hour. Or two. And are most definitely not Eric's Grandma Approved.

    RPG Web Comic: Fuzzy Knights!

Comic is hilarious. I got strange looks for the entire hour that I was reading it (bursting in to laughter every 30 seconds does that). The banner quote is great, but if you photoshopped out that little upper bar in the first version, and made the red text a little crisper, it would be a lot...

    D&D 3.x Psi - Mental Leap in 3.5

*drools* That idea makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

    Needless Variation

We tried that. Our DM thought that Cthulhu would be a great enemy for an epic party. Unfortunately, before we got that far, we had all developed so many psychological problems and fixations (in character), that it was ridiculous. Some things are just not meant to be, I suppose. [Edit] Hijack...

    Fireballs into melee?

It's a matter of DM preference, really. There's nothing stopping a player from counting squares and precision aiming his spell, except the DM.

    defensive casting, not rolling?

It's a real kicker, but if you don't say you're casting defensively, then you aren't casting defensively. Even if you only fail on a 1.

    Half-Slaad Template: Response Requested

Seems fairly powerful, but that's what LA +4 creatures are. The abilities are varied enough that it fits in with the 'crazy mad' Slaad style, but certainly playable. Damn you for adding another idea to my list of character concepts that I want to play!

Silliest thing you've seen in a serious campaign...

Consider that stolen. I can see an NPC sorceror using Spell Thematic (Monkey) very soon. Hmmm... most silly? Our party is sailing across the sea, and runs across a floating atol. A sea drake had stashed some loot in a small niche there, so we took that... and then the island began to shake. The...

"Someday, I'd like to show you around a monster-free city." (Gyaos stats)

Just watched the first movie, so I've got a basis to critique from. Nothing here that seems too out of place, but I'm a bit weirded by the save/AC breakdowns of the Gyaos. For the most part, both lesser and greater Gyaos depended on dodging attacks, rather than soaking them. A dexterity of 15...

Gamera is really neat! He is made of turtle meat! We all love you, Gamera!

Hmmm... after watching the first film *gasp* I'm wondering about some of this stuff. Fire blasts every 1d4 rounds? Gamera fired off 3 in a row when in aerial persuit of the gyaos, which argues for a faster fire rate. Then again, he spent long periods of time not firing them, so the delay...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Wounding blade broken?

The only problem I could see is duel-weilding wounding weapons. At higher levels, with Greater TWF, and perhaps the speed enchantment as well (now for the low, low price of +3), it could be a bit dangerous, but otherwise, it seems alright. Though I can imagine the smacks that will come from...

Things that have bugged you since 1E

Hmmm... something that's been bothering me? A character is just as likely to be hit while carrying a sword as you are when unarmed. There doesn't seem to be a decent system for using weapon parrying as defense, and makes every character dependent on his suit of magic armor (or mithril chain).

A twist to starting Hit Points, a house rule

Sounds nifty, but it seems like it would really throw low level play balance off. CR 1 and 2 creatures are going to have significantly less hp than the PCs, and so those first few levels might be too much of a cakewalk. Tangent: Shouldn't this be in House Rules?

    D&D 3.x Problems with 3.5 Power Attack?

I'm running a two-hander right now, and the new power attack is good... just not that good. Sure, with PA and a critical or two, his damage output is something to see, but otherwise, he's relatively balanced with the party. Of course, that's just his damage output. Having the highest AC in the...

Would There Be Any Interest In This?

Sounds great. The idea of an "Iconic" dragon seems rather appropriate, as many of the DnD dragons were probably sourced from them, yet those sources have not been properly acknowledged.

Anyone here ever PUSH A MAN DOWN STAIRS!?

I've been playing this for a couple months now. It's quite possible to get scores in the 200 thousand range, you just need to find one of the few combos that ends up getting lots of head hits. 'Course, it's hard to replicate them once you find 'em, but still doable.

    Restringing a bow

In my (small) experience, keeping the string on a bow is actually fairly practical. Bracing the bow, properly bending it, then sliding the string into position could plausibly be done in six seconds (if you had plenty of training, and were in some sort of fantasy world :)). I think putting a new...

    Looking for TINY dice

Hmmm... Inflatable, 2' diameter d20's. I see a market there :) I'd actually buy one, if I could. The shear joy of saying "1 second, I need to inflate my die" would be more than worth it.

Half-Human Races (no stats required, just need ideas and flavor)

Most of these just scream to be PC's. The angst about heritage, the odd abilities, and the sheer weirdness seem to fit in with the adventurer's place. They wouldn't be too hard to stat out, either.
