    How to clean a whiteboard?

Windex always did the trick for me (no streaks :p ), but anything with enough rubbing alchohol will do the trick. The trick is to wipe it wet, and then go over it again with dry towels. That should also prevent problems with the gloss finish. Also: Sharpies and permanent markers really aren't...

    Rogue Junk...

The creator of the Invisible Blade PrC from Complete Warrior gave some unofficial errata to the prerequisites (since the class was significantly changed from its original version). You can find them here. If your DM is cool with it, the class is much more viable, and a lot better for a combat...

ID: Weapon from the anime movie Ninja Scroll

Good call. It's usually a lot better to emulate the crazy things in anime/movies with a standard weapon, and add some flavor text. A set of house rules might make it slightly cooler, but makes explaining it to new players/DM/etc rather difficult, and reduces your potential options.

D&D Monsters that Scare You and Your Players

As a player in some of demiurge's campaigns, I'd definitely agree. The fear of being manipulated, set up for a trap, double-crossed, or simply cut out to dry after doing something for someone makes manipulative enemies far more dangerous than head on foes. I think the best way to describe it is...

    Ratio of Spending to Gaming

For my current campaign: 2 books - 50$ 22 sessions to date ~$2.27/session It's on IRC, so I don't need to worry about contributing for snack funds, or buying dice.

    Dice superstitions

I have to store my dice in a special dice bag - a sock. It doesn't matter what sock, it just needs to be clean, somewhat old, and not too ratty. The first d20 I ever bought has its own miniature sock back, and seems to always roll higher. For IRC games, there's one guy banned from hosting the...

High level 3.5 - tricks for keeping the numbers game quick and easy?

Last high level game I played in, we had a whiteboard/battlemat to play on, and everyone had at least a corner or two. We kept initiative on one side, active spells in one corner, and everyone had some space to scribble their own info. Being able to write out and easily change your various...

[April] What's up in your campaign?

The Freelance Police Season Two The game is an episodic Eberron game played over IRC, with each session (or two) following the forumula of setup, investigation, combat, and epilogue. Sure, it's a bit overdone, but it works splendidly for the medium, and the campaign setting works perfectly: the...

Falling damage -- the leaping off a cliff example

I've had characters do it, and the added cinematic appeal seems to outweigh the bending of reality. The d6/10' system is a fairly good guideline, and lends itself to ad libbing damages in weird situations. Case in point: My character jumps off a soarsled to save a falling child, makes a grapple...

What do you do with character sheets for slain characters?

My DM has an ugly habit of doing that sort of thing. However, I can't say I don't enjoy it, mostly for two reasons: 1) It enforces playing fair. Explaining where those "extra" skill points and BAB came from can get mighty sticky when your character dies, so it gives everyone incentive to keep...

Iron Kingdoms - tell me about them please

Iron Kingdoms always seems to remind me of Fullmetal Alchemist. I don't know why, but the magical/technological setup, and the whole brink of conflict situation are very tempting to me, simply because of the numerous story arcs that can occur.

    Sell Me On WoW!

I've played the game at its worst: Alliance Paladin on Blackrock (the most crowded PvP server, and with a rare Horde majority), and dear lord, I keep coming back to it. Despite hour long queues to get into the game, despite frequent attacks from Horde PvP gankers, despite having a quasi-language...

What's the best you've ever gotten for your buck in gaming products?

I use the Eberron Campaign Setting at least once per session, and always find something new and interesting in it. Not just feats or rules that I had read and forgotten, but information about countries and cultures that I needed for the game, and really led to a better understanding of the...

Adding non-support search for Gamers Seeking Gamers?

I was looking through the Gamers Seeking Gamers forum just a few minutes ago, trying to find any groups that play in the USC/Downtown LA area, and had a bit of a thought. How convenient and effective would it be if non-supporters could do searches, but only in the Gamers Seeking Gamers forum? I...

    Rogue Feat Choice

Swashbuckler actually gives it for free at 1st level (and has full BAB). Right now, I'm actually playing a rogue 2 / swashbuckler 3 / invisible blade 1 (with quasi-errata'd prereqs), and it's going quite well. I actually place more importance on Int than Dex, since Swashbuckler 3 gives...

Trying to contact Charles Plemmons. Also, discussing dice!

I really like the old school Chessex single color dice, they're much easier to read, and just have more "character" than the marbled or oddly colored Crystal Caste ones. Of all my dice, the set that came with the 2nd Edition Boxed Set (my first foray into the game) still seem to roll the best...

    Knowledge[Local] : How Local?

"local" is the generic term, when you take ranks in the skill, it applies to a specific place. So, you could take ranks in Knowledge(local: Waterdeep) or Knowledge(local: Sharn) or Knowledge(local: wherever), but not ranks in Knowledge(local)

Jadrek Falco This guy is my current character in an IRC game being run by Demiurge, but damned if he isn't my favorite character I've played to date. I've had more fun roleplaying this guy than any other character in my history, and while he's not ac ombat machine, the inventiveness I've used...

    Tourists at the table

We have people drop in and watch a game every once in a while, and it's rarely too much of a problem. It's nice to actually show what DnD is, rather than simply try to explain it in generalities, and it's a decent way of getting new members in the hobby. Also, it works as a screening method: If...

    Orange Ioun Stones

Ur-Priest is in Complete Divine, but yes, you're right about the quote. I distinctly remember it being different in the BoVD though, but after checking, it seems to be the same. Well, it seems like the build doesn't work quite as well as planned, and that the fellows over at the WotC Character...
