No kidding. This thing shouldn't be called a worg. Or if it is, then the text should not say these are relatives to wolves. They look more like some kind of bird/lizard aberration. If anything, this looks like the goblin dogs from the Paizo's Pathfinder world (which are not true dogs - the...

Eberron: Sources of info on Lamannia

Yes, it was indeed the last book in the Dreaming Dark series : The Gates of the Night. It's possible that Keith may have also done something in his Dragon Shards articles on the WoTC site, but I don't remember seeing anything.

    What's your back-up game?

    1) Pathfinder 2) Straight up 3.5 3) Some other OGL based game 4) Traveller (any version) 5) CoC But to be totally honest, my likelihood of playing 4E long term is probably somewhere between (4) and (5) - unless it's a very different game than what's been revealed to date.

    D&D 4E Rate your interest in 4e.

Ditto on the Pathfinder interest. I'm thinking of starting a new campaign up in the next couple of weeks using the Pathfinder Alpha rules. The open play test of the alpha rules was a good move on Paizo's part.

I started off somewhere around 4 at the initial announcement and have been slowly drifting downwards with but a brief blip upwards when I heard they were going to redo most of the old settings. I didn't vote 0 (because I am still curious about the final product) but I have pretty low...

    Minion Status: Private or Public?

If the DM isn't giving any clues as to who the leaders are in your typical mixed group of opponents, then you probably don't have a good DM (or you have an inexperienced one). On the other hand, if the DM simply announces "that's a level 3 cleric, that's a minion, and that's an elite...

Are you bothering to read DUNGEON anymore? (and level index)

That's interesting. One of the things I like about the Pathfinder subscription from Paizo is that you get both the pdf and the printed copy with your subscription, so you can both read the printed copy and then later use the electronic version in game prep on a laptop.

Are you bothering to read DUNGEON anymore? (and level index)

I selected no because I haven't checked the online version in a while. I did download the last Eberron adventure in that trilogy a while ago so I had the complete story arc and I think I might download the Far Realm adventure now that I see it in the list. However, I find I have something...

D&D 4E New 4e Info! GAMA Tradeshow Scoop

I was waiting for someone to put it in this context. ;) But yes, in this case you might have more serious debate because it's in a more realistic context. I don't know if you'll get serious metaphysical discussions going, but you will get debates centered around morality and international...

D&D 4E New 4e Info! GAMA Tradeshow Scoop

Huh? I always thought we were talking about priests talking to a crowd of folks in a city, so we're looking at civilized folks to start with. As for Sigil with demons and such, okay, so there are supernatural provocateurs present in that case so they might encourage some citizens to turn to...

    D&D 4E Got to play 4E today

Yea, I certainly remember some of the arguments that could arise from Area of Effect spells and Area of Effect traps... "there's no way I was within 10 feet of that chest the thief was poking around with" and such. I suppose if we had been diligently using miniatures, or writing our positions...

    D&D 4E Got to play 4E today

I have to ask... how can you be so certain about the tools that 4E gives you and how great everything is, yet you've seen less of 4E than what the original poster did. At least he played in some kind of official demo game. What gives you your insight? As for what version of D&D is best, I...

    D&D 4E Got to play 4E today

Whoa, are you actually serious? Have you actually ever played First edition D&D? You certainly never needed miniatures and if you had actually played it, you would realize it. If anyone here is trolling....

    D&D 4E Got to play 4E today

While D&D evolved from the old Chainmail rules to Sword & Sorcery and onwards from there, AD&D never really required the use of miniatures. Sure, our game group did use the old lead miniatures (not the safer metals or plastics you have these days) but they certainly were never necessary for the...

    D&D 4E Got to play 4E today

I know this wasn't your main topic, but I loved this about original Traveller. Generating a Traveller character was like a game itself, one with potentially nasty consequences. It might not have been everyone's cup of tea, but I got a big kick out of it . We started playing Traveller about...

D&D 4E New 4e Info! GAMA Tradeshow Scoop

Would it? You have a crowd of people in some city and three people putting forth the originally posited philosophies (paraphrased): 1) Treat others as you would have them treat you (the moral choice which provides a net gain for any civilized society) 2) Kill, pillage and rape (the immoral...

D&D 4E New 4e Info! GAMA Tradeshow Scoop

These philosophies are a bit simple and there isn't really a lot to debate. None of them really try to explain existence. They are more just moral outlooks (or lack thereof in the case of Gruumsh). I don't think having these as the main religious based philosophies in the world will lead to...

D&D 4E New 4e Info! GAMA Tradeshow Scoop

I agree completely with this. The actual gods that were used didn't matter at all. The philosophies of the Factions transcended the need to worship any particular god (or gods). Duke Rowan's 'Taker' self-reliant philosophy was a far more defining element of his character than the fact that he...

D&D 4E New 4e Info! GAMA Tradeshow Scoop

No arguments there about multiple pantheons being possible without the Great Wheel. My main concern is that there needs to be a multitude of contradicting pantheons, peoples/worlds and belief structures to give plausibility to what arose in Sigil with the factions. If they go on to shoe horn...

D&D 4E New 4e Info! GAMA Tradeshow Scoop

I would have to disagree that the 'Afterlife' wasn't important. It certainly was, because the sheer absurdity of it all is what the Athar used as the core of their argument. As they looked around the so-called afterlife from the safe haven of Sigil, they saw so many contradicting things that...
