Assess this chap's position (3.0 and older versions)

Just one quick note. This is fairly wrong. Multiclassing was well worth the tradeoff; often it was outright overpowered. Most of the time, a multiclass character was just one or two levels behind a single-class character, but he had all the benefits of two or three classes. The restrictions...

    Is there a XP calculator?

There is a very minimal one I made in a few hours for my own use. Select characters, select the CR, hit "award". For each character, it will figure out XP from the table, divide it by the number of characters selected, and add it to that character's total. The rest is easy. It also saves the XP...

What is Final Fantasy all about?

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. The entire FFVII with that quality... *drool*

    Jackson's King Kong: 3 Hours.

I'll watch this on the big screen, but only if there's nothing more appealing around. It's Peter Jackson and that's good, but it's also King Kong. It doesn't interest me much.

    WotC's D&D bumperstickers

Technically, wouldn't you have to include a copy of the OGL on those stickers?

    Dream Campaign?

So... many... the truth is, I just want to play, goddammit. I always DM. I like DMing, but I want to play in a good game!

Uh... stick pipes into a manes and play it like a bagpipe?

    I'm sick of symmetries

That's not the problem; the problem is concepts that have basically no relation outside the metagame, getting lumped together. I'm all for having powers with variable effects (the psion powers have plenty of good examples) - provided that the different effects are related by something in the...

    Laws of Nature

My dungeons usually have toilets (well, holes generally, sometimes with an otyugh or something on the bottom). Though recently I've been designing a lot of dungeons for Outsiders, and since they don't need to eat or drink I figure they don't really need toilets either. But that's about it as...

    Barnes & Noble's D&D Online Course

Heh... it can be cool - provided it doesn't get filled with people anxious to mock the idea. ;)

    Dungeons as economic lynch pins

I can already see it... DM: "You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike" Player: "wdwa66888884" DM: "You hit the small kobold. The small kobold dies. --more--" ;) :p

Businesses saying keep the rowdy children at home.

Agreed. Or at least, get a psychological check-up. I can't fathom what type of person would be annoyed by a woman breast-feeding, or why. Probably the same type of person who would cover up nude statues.

Businesses saying keep the rowdy children at home.

I think that most store owners would throw out an adult that runs around screaming and bangs his head over the counter. Actually, the whole point is that the owner is extending to rowdy children the rules that normally are implicit when dealing with rowdy adults.

    I'm sick of symmetries

I hear you! IMC, I don't bother with symmetries, though I don't go out of my way to prevent them either. "Because Good has it" is not a valid argument to create an Evil something, and it certainly isn't a valid argument to create an Evil something that is just as the Good one except that it does...

RPG Illegal File Sharing Hurts the Hobby

Let's assume www.freeideas.org is able to track the number of downloads of each piece of IP it holds - a very reasonable assumption. Let's also assume that most people who want a certain piece of IP are going to get it from www.freeideas.org, which is not totally unreasonable since it is free...

    Sense Motive: Walking Polygraph Machines?

Sorry, I may have worded my point unclearly. Here's what I meant: if a character is lying by omission, a successful Sense Motive will only tell you "there is something more, even though what he said is true".

    Sense Motive: Walking Polygraph Machines?

What I do is - first, PCs have to ask for a Sense Motive roll. I won't roll Bluff until they ask, and if they do I will roll Bluff even if the character is telling the truth. That fixes the "the DM is rolling a d20, the NPC must be lying!" problem. Second, read the Bluff description; if you say...

    Planet of the Priests

A majority of the population is capable of casting cure minor wounds, which is enough to stabilize a dying creature. Most workplace injuries become irrelevant. Casualties in war drop as well. They can also cast purify food and drink and create water. Starvation and thirst are reduced to almost...

    PC spinning out of control

What we do for PC wealth is as follows: when a PC dies, all of his equipment that was bought with starting wealth vanishes. Depending on circumstances, it may be returned to the family, given to charity, destroyed by the monster's attack, appropriated by NPCs, or, if all else fails, buried with...
