"Quality Standards" in the d20 System Guide

I'll have to disagree with you there. If those are toeing the line of pornography, then so is the National Geographic Swimsuit issue they released this summer, or any National Geographic issue that contains people in the nude, or the X-Men Summer Swimsuit issue that Marvel released a few years...

"Quality Standards" in the d20 System Guide

I don't recally trying to (C) or (TM) "orc" or "spell" but the Nazi(TM) is technically true, but not TSR's fault. As Jim Butler pointed out (hi, Jim! Wassup?) that was placed there at LucasFilm's insistance, IIRC, and actually referred to the _image_ of that Nazi (a drawing), which _is_...

Ghostwalk for an Oriental Adventures campaign?

{Anyone looked at it enough to get an informed opinion? How well would it work for an already going campaign? Specifically, how well would it work for Oriental Adventures?} I haven't read OA in a while, but I think you could incorporate it into the setting. It also would depend if the...

    Elite gnolls and template class

It would probably work the same way, though how to fit in eidoloncer levels is an interesting question. I already wrote the half-celestial for Anger of Angels from Malhavoc Press, and it's Open content, and since WotC has a policy against putting Open content on their site, we couldn't port...

    Elite gnolls and template class

The Savage Progressions article is the first of six in the series, by the way. The others will cover fiendish template, half-fiend, ghost, lycanthropes, half-dragons, and lich.

What WotC does better than other D20 studios. (mild rant)

Re: Re: What WotC does better than other D20 studios. (mild rant) {Let's see, 3e FR products 1st Monsters of Faerun 2nd FRCS} Actually, Monsters of Faerun is a core D&D product. It doesn't even have an FR logo, and it uses the MM cover. It's not even set up like an FR product (in fact, the FR...

[FR] Population of Suzail and Marsember (Cormyr)

{Everyone agrees the Calimport population given in FR3 Empires of the Sands is too high. The FRCS designers also tried to rationalize other population numbers according to this scheme. This, in my view, was totally unnecessary since Ed's original figures were perfectly well thought out already.}...

    Lycanthropy for PCs

Hmmm, looks like lag ate my reply. Short summary: 1) I found the reference in the printed MM to the varying ECLs. 2) I suppose it's because the natural lycanthrope has complete control, can transmit lycanthropy, and DR 10/silver (instead of 5/silver). That means I need to tweak my articles...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] No Take 10/20 specifics?

{There is an article on Sean K. Reynolds' web site about Take 20 that is a useful (albeit unofficial) reference. (Also keep in mind that the article was written for the 3.0 rules.)} Here's the link for that. I suppose I could do a 3.5 update for it...

Anyone want to explain this to me?

Because "flat-footed" does not mean "paralyzed." After all, when you're FF you're not treated like a Dex 0 object, are you? No. You're still moving and able to react to things, just not react to specific threats. You may not me able to dodge, but you still have the instinct to "duck and cover."

    Lycanthropy for PCs

{Just a note: according to my copy of the [3.5] SRD, it would 'just' be a minumum of +3: +2 for lycanthrope(afflicted), +1 for wererat.} Well, that can't be right, because the MM lists LA +3 for every single type of lycanthrope, regardless of base animal HD. And I asked Ed Stark, Rich Baker...

    D&D Clue

D&D Clue is a limited edition and has a limited print run. I'm pretty sure it's just intended for D&D fans. No idea if they plan other crossovers (considering how hard people fought to get a D&D book with Magic: The Gathering monsters and how it was shot down each time, and how that was just...

    Lycanthropy for PCs

{SO any suggestions on how break up into a level system (I realize you're probably going to do an article on it, but any general hints would be nice)} First figure out what powers the template grants independant of the animal hit dice (alternate form, natural armor bonus, Wisdom bonus, natural...

    Lycanthropy for PCs

{Advantages and disadvantages aside, unless you're playing with a bunch of munchkins who go nuts with such things, what's wrong with suddenly acquiring power?} Because at the minimum you're talking at least +4 LA (+3 for the template, +1 for the weakest lycanthrope -- the wererat -- having 1...

    Lycanthropy for PCs

{I'm considering introducing lycanthropy into my campaign. It would be helpful to hear your thoughts about how to make it work well.} {One of the things that intrigues me is good lycanthropes. It would seem to have a lot of benefits for a PC. So, how exactly would it work in terms of the...

Should commoners (and everyone else) be a bit more durable?

You might want to check out two artictles by me: A Theory About Peasants (it's about how often peasants should level up even though they're not adventuring): http://www.seankreynolds.com/rpgfiles/misc/theoryaboutpeasants.html Variant: Slower Dying (a system where characters take longer to...

    Legal question.

I believe the SRD/OGL/d20 still specifically rules out software usage, at least in most cases.

Um... Look inside, DnD image theft...

Todd Lockwood says he doesn't own the rights to that illustration and he didn't give permission for it, so either WotC gave permission or someone is stealing from WotC. Please report it to customer service.

    Heiromphant vs. ARchmage (3.5)

Compare the prereqs. Hierophant's are very simple, archmage's are extensive.
