    I got Faiths & Pantheons!

In retrospect, I'm not sure why I assigned those fiends into those categories. It may be a combination of two reasons: 1) If I didn't, we'd have people whining that (a) the table is messed up and WotC doesn't bother to edit its books, or (b) people would immediately ask their relative power...

    I got Faiths & Pantheons!

Actually, if you read the section in the book where it talks about worshiping fiends, it never actually refers to them as deities. You're just making a pact (usually for your soul, backed up with frequent sacrifices) and the fiend provides spells drawn from its own power. So the worshiper is in...

    Forgotten Realms...

Which is something we toned down or eradicated in the FRCS, because we felt there was too much "whimsy" in FR because of poor management of the previous products in the line. ::phew::

    Forgotten Realms...

It amuses me that you all keep saying that FR is high magic, when there is nothing in the 3E FR rulebooks that say you should give out any more magic, treasure, or spells than in a normal D&D game. In fact, the FR team was specifically told that FR characters could not be any more powerful than...

Does anyone else think it is ridiculous that Sorcerers use components and such?

    Ignore this, I'm mostly-deleting a double post.

Does anyone else think it is ridiculous that Sorcerers use components and such?

Well, people such as myself are still bound by an NDA, so I can't just drop big chunks on info like that (such as the core class that almost made it into the game). As for the people at WotC, who knows, but the people of RPG R&D (particularly after all the layoffs) are so busy working under the...

Does anyone else think it is ridiculous that Sorcerers use components and such?

It makes sense to keep it Two comments, both based on stuff I heard from other people: Ryan Dancey at Gen Con: "The wizard is the guy who studied the laws of magic and knows what things done in the right order produce magical effects, and he knows _why_. The sorcerer is the guy who knows that...

Anybody else HATE item creation feats?

You're wrong. All of the Monster Manual monsters had an estimated CR, which was adjusted after extensive playtesting. Furthermore, money _is_ factored into CRs. Characters are expected to have a certain value of gear by level X, so the fighters can be expected to have a +Y magic weapon, and...

Deities and Demigods ~ Thank You God!

Faiths & Pantheons (out next month) has write-ups of all of the demihuman deities. By "write-ups" I mean half-page entries with domains, church info, dogma, and stuff like that--NOT DDG-style deity stat blocks with hit points, ability scores, etc.

    Deities & Demigods continued

Re: Re: 1/2 Celestial Character Ascension Considering that the term "native outsider" is a term we invented for FR (and then unofficially applied it to the Mnk20 ability), only the FR native outsider races and the Mnk20 are native outsiders, all other outsiders are regular outsiders.

    Wee Jas

If you can't get ahold of the 1E materials on her, grab the 3E Living Greyhawk Gazetteer. The deities section (authored by yours truly) has a three-paragraph summary of her, her dogma, and the role of her clerics. (edit) Never mind, looks like Lone Wolf posted the relevant material. ::sigh::

Deities & Demigods vs Faiths & Pantheons

I'm not really sure I can answer those questions; we're approaching the limit of what I can say about the upcoming book.

Deities & Demigods vs Faiths & Pantheons

There certainly is. The book ran long; it's packed with info. You get at least a page (not including DDG stat blocks) for the 30 major deities and a half-page for the 90 othre deities. If you've seen the FRCS, you have seen the style of the 90 writeups; the 30 major deities have expanded...

Deities & Demigods vs Faiths & Pantheons

As am I. Erik did excellent work on this book and I'm glad we were able to get him to work on it. I was the developer on the book, which meant that I synched up stuff with other books*, double-checked the new rules for balance and playability, and figured out what parts of the book needed extra...

At least Kenzer can get it right.

Hey, doc: ease off. You have no idea how much work goes into putting together a poster map, and you have no way of knowing if the problem with the FR sectional map in Dragon Magazine stems from a problem at WotC or if it was a problem at the printing company. You are insulting the cartographers...

    Sovereign Press to produce Dragonlance

Re: Re: Re: Re: Woohoo! By the way, my above comment about DOSF is just my impression of what happened, as I wasn't involved in R&D stuff at the time (I joined TSR right around the time DoSF was about to be published), so I'm basically talking out of my ass. I wish Sovereign Press the best of...

    Sovereign Press to produce Dragonlance

I have no idea if Monte would be interested in licensing Planescape from WotC (or if WotC's even interested in licensing PS), but working with him would be cool. (For the record, I've never worked on PS, so I dunno why y'all think me working on it would be such a great thing, but thanks for the...
