Need Help Mounting Plastic Mini's on Bases.

Mr. Beef- The key to avoiding cutting your fingers (!) is using a set of shear clippers to cleanly 'pop' off the MK figs at the original glue points. Any Games Workshop store should sell them; I think they cost around $10 US or so. When I rebase, I usually use superglue on the original glue...

    Kobold as Viable PC Race?

There was a web enhancement on WOTC's site written by one of the authors of Races of the Dragon which has some optional boosts to kobolds to encourage their use as a PC race. I do not have the link handy, but I am sure it is a quick search!

"Now You all know The bards and their songs..."

Think of the Barbarian/Bard as a savage skald, singing inspirational battle chants and cheering on his fellow warriors. There are some UA variant bits that could help flesh out the concept well. If you go this route consider the Rage Mage PrC from Complete Arcane to let you cast while raging.

Campaigns in a box (a la SCAP)

Another vote for Age of Worms Paul- If your group enjoyed the style and tone of Cauldron, then I think you will really like Age of Worms. Both have a bit of gonzo-style to the NPCs, with lots of bits that hearken back to past editions for the nostalgia factor. I liked AoW better (from what I...

Dungeon Tiles. Anyone used them at length yet?

Thumbs up on Dungeon Tiles I ran Expedition to Castle Ravenloft this past weekend, and since my new Dungeon Tiles had just arrived, I thought I would give them a try. I had been drawing out the maps on a battlemap, so that is my baseline for comparison. I found the Tiles really quick and easy...

Can novels make or break a setting for you?

Folks- First off, my hat is duly doffed to Teflon Billy, a class act indeed, to share his opinion honestly but be willing to be proven wrong. Well done, sir! By way of full disclosure, I will start by saying that I like quite a bit of shared world writing. I would certainly agree that many...

Recosting Magic Items in MIC = Blatant Power Creep...er..Power Charge?

LOL Freakin' awesome. Laugh point to you, Whizbang.

    The Illusion of Powergaming

That is a really silly argument. Essentially, you are saying that each ofl the players should lower themselves to their lowest common denominator to avoid being 'better' than anybody else in the group-- even if that is because the others in the group (or even just one of them!) are too lazy to...

    Probably been asked already...

While I would certainly not call it "RAW", FWIW, it is clear by inference that WOTC/Paizo believe that a shield wielded in the primary hand is treated as a primary weapon. Eric the Cavalier in the D&D cartoon boxed set is built that way. :D

What do you think of WotC's new combat encounter or "Delve" format?

[regarding John Cooper reviews] I really admire John's dillegence and attention to detail, and appreciate his reviews. It does bother me quite a bit that WOTC's editing remains terrible. I wish WOTC would just hire John, if nothing else. :) That said, when I started running RtCR, I planned...

Seconded, on all counts. The new format rocks.

    Chicago Gameday XVI: the aftermath!

Great Game Day! Hey, folks! Thanks to all for a *GREAT GAME DAY*! This one was a new high-mark for me on the fun scale. I had a great time running my first GameDay event, made fantastic by the wonderful players who all were completely into the campy feel of the game. Thanks to the cast...

Did you know that Al Franken is running for office? (How was that for a subtle bump? :D)

    Shattered Gates of Slaughterguard

Hey, Mearls! I am using the new format for the first time running Expedition to Castle Ravenloft. It is *great* IMO. Having all the 'story' and plot points in one place, and then encounters in another, makes the module immensely easy to run, and yet its complexity would completely daunt me...

    Chicago Gameday XVI: the aftermath!

Who would *possibly* confuse the smell of Brut with victory? Cat-piss, maybe, but not victory. You scare me, Buzz. :uhoh: Is everybody ready for some GameDay Action??? I am looking forward to it. Of course, now I am all intimidated that my game does not have a nifty motivational poster...

Boston Gamers: Pandemonium Books and Games in trouble

I dunno. From his LJ post, the store owner sounds pretty unhappy and jaded. Maybe his life would be better with closing the store, even if it cuts out a game store option for Boston folks. :\

Which is REALLY the best alignment?

Seconded. Truthfully, I would like to act more CN in real life, too, but it is much harder to get away with in modern society. :D
