Tensir's Floating disk of do everything + Cranky DM

The 4E test for questions like this is: Does it give an "unfair" advantage? If so, then choose the most restictive rules interpretation. If not, then choose the most liberal rules interpretation. The difficulty is to decide what is "unfair"

    Help with Character Concept

Eladrin and elf aren't all that different (fluff-wise), and Elf minis are excellent for representing Eladrin - are you certain about your "Must be an Elf" rule?

What damage does weapon enhancement add to?

OK, here's the text: So. I'm guessing that the extra damage to an adjacent enemy from the Fighter Attack 1 At-will Cleave counts as "other damage" and doesn't get the enhancement bonus added on. Similarly, the half or full Str damage from a miss using the Fighter Attack 1 At-will Reaping...

Great weapon fighter is a "trap"? Forked Thread: I don't optimize.

Working on one, warforged, going for the Warforged Juggernaut paragon path which includes more charging goodness.

When is D&D Insider actually launching?

Another more-or-less failed WotC online initiative is the character tracking for the RPGA's D&D Campaigns (not the Living Campaigns like Living Greyhawk, but the ones like Xendrik Expeditions or Legacy of the Green Regent). Ask around of RPGA members who played those Campaigns, and you'll find...

    Is Stealth the new Grapple?

Well, yes. Once you have determined your take on the INTENT (which is a one-time decision), the rule itself is simple as pie - just like almost everything in 4E.

    Is Stealth the new Grapple?

I think 4E Stealth is the opposite problem to 3.xE Grapple. 3.xE Grapple: we know the INTENT of what it's supposed to do (grab and hold someone, maybe move them or damage them) - it's the HOW that the problem. 4E Stealth: we generally know HOW to do Stealth (Stealth vs. Perception check) -...

    Force Orb versus Object

But... but... "Because it's stupid" is my number 1 trump card. Although, visions or "I cast Force Orb at the ground - what's the Ref of every peasant on the planet?" are dancing through my head for day one of the new campaign... Think of all the dead minions!!!1!111

    Multiclass Feats & Daily

Word. My Orb-Wizard was going to take skill training in Religion (to get to use the rituals). For the same cost, and with roleplaying incentive thrown in, he can get Healing Word 1/day on top of training in Religion.

    Bodies = Difficult Terrain?

I go both ways, depending on the circumstance. Most of the time dead enemies just disappear, especially if we're tight for (RL) time. If it would be interesting/fun though... difficult terrain is the simplest, but it can get even more zany if the mood is right. Squeezing, Acrobatics checks, etc.

Minions with 1hp - Can anyone justify this?

If the PC with the Area attack is getting a dozen hits out of a dozen attack rolls, either he's using loaded dice, or the encounter was not built properly.

Minions with 1hp - Can anyone justify this?

You do still have to hit them, right? Anyone more than 8 or 10 levels above you and you'll need a 20 just to hit...

New errata for core books, dated 7/2/2008

I am similarly of two minds about this. I think that what I will do is get some small, brightly coloured stickers and stick them in the books wherever errata has been released. That way I know there is something to check.

    The Surprise round anomally

Which has, of course, been the difficult thing about Surprise rounds since 3E. As an ambusher, in the surprise round you can: a) Jump out (move action) and do nothing b) .... I can't think of a b)

"Aid Another" on Heal Checks for Disease?

Then nobody would EVER aid another - anyone who successfully aids would have succeeded on their own, and been better off making the actual check themselves. DC - 5 is a good one, if you're worried and want Aid Another to scale with level.

Minions with 1hp - Can anyone justify this?

Of course, it is exciting when someone hits on a 20 (which isn't unreasonable to expect to recuire, for that hit to actually hit). Remember everyone, that minions don't drop when *attacked*, they drop when *hit*. And for all their "1 hp" they still have level-appropriate defences.

What exactly does being "marked" mean?

I believe "Marked" is one of the conditions listed in the PHB on page 277 with all the other conditions. My wife has my copy, so I can't confirm it for you though.

    Why are skill challenges "broken"?

I actually really like this one - these near-misses counting neither as successes nor failures. Gives that tiny bit more incentive to try things out...

    Art of the Peel

Not so sure about that. Monsters and PCs are not the same - there's no reason to expect that the higher level version of a monster got to level 15 by adventuring and gaining experience (or being "adventured upon" and defeating adventuring parties for XP).
