Rake and Pounce confusion? [2004 Thread]

Hmm, guess you're right. However, I remember reading that an animal with natural attacks that is grappling can do an attack an opponent action once for every natural weapon it has. This would lead me to believe that you can bite + improved grab, then attack with both claws at -4.

Rake and Pounce confusion? [2004 Thread]

Is that using the "attack an opponent" action, where you can use a natural weapon at -4? If so, doesn't that happen starting on the next round after you've started the grapple?

Rake and Pounce confusion? [2004 Thread]

If you succeed with improved grab, you forfeit the rest of your natural attacks for the round because you are now in a grappled state. (Is that right, Hyp?)

    Custserv response on errata'd polymorph

I think you're being too hard on him from the quote you gave of a reply he made back in October. The reply in fact doesn't give an answer - just to wait for errata. However, I do agree that, to send me a message contradicting the errata that just came out, does boggle me.

OFFICAL ERRATA: Hit points *DO NOT* change in polymorph

I got a response from custserv on the polymorph errata. I started a new thread here so that it wouldn't get lost in this long thread: http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1426150

    Custserv response on errata'd polymorph

I sent an email to custserv@wizards.com requesting a clarification on how the errata for polymorph works. I asked what would happen if a 10 Con 8th level druid wildshapes into a 19 con bear. Here is their response:

OFFICAL ERRATA: Hit points *DO NOT* change in polymorph

By low, I mean 10 :) But you do have a good point about how often con damage comes up. Hopefully, it will never come up with the druid I'm about to play.

OFFICAL ERRATA: Hit points *DO NOT* change in polymorph

Unfortunately, for druids with high con scores who want to wildshape to creatures that have a low con (scouting, snooping, etc.), it presents a serious risk to con damage even though their original form would be able to take it in stride.

I guess he would be at 3 hp but at 10 con according to the rules.

    Vow of Poverty and CWI

James: Well, no, I would not use the druid's share of money to make items for the party - that money would be donated properly. Any items the party wants would have to be paid for by their own money. Now, if a good organization was looking for an item the druid could create, then he could use...

    Vow of Poverty and CWI

Thanks for the responses. I sent a message to custserv with the same question and they concurred:

    Vow of Poverty and CWI

So someone with a vow of poverty doesn't have dogma that would conflict with him making magic items for his rich adventuring buddies instead of making them for "needy" good organizations? That's one point of contention I thought there would be. The other point of contention is the fact that he...

    Vow of Poverty and CWI

Can a druid with a Vow of Poverty take Create Wondrous Item? Instead of just giving his share of treasure from adventuring to Good organizations, can he make magic items for them? How about making magic items for the party? If someone else has a magic item creation feat, can he provide spells...

Why did Invisibility get the shaft?

You'll also notice that greater invisibility went from 1 min/level to 1 round/level. It probably aligns with their belief that buff spells should be used for items and not all-day buffing. Shrug.

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Eratta? or I found a mistake in my 3.5 DMG?

Speaking of errata, there appears to be an inability to use previously written errata in the DMG as well. At the end of the 3.0 DMG (p 244-6) they talk about how a wizard doesn't need the spell components or XP costs from a prerequisite spell to make magic items. The errata changed that saying...
