    Excerpt: Weapons (MERGE)

Improvised weapon = weapon category. Unarmed = weapon group. There is a difference. Considering that everyone's default "BAB", if you will, is that of a 3.x Wizard, I can see the reason for this. Weapons typically attack AC, which will typically be the highest defense of any given enemy...

    Excerpt: Weapons (MERGE)

How is one full attack per round in 2e NOT the be-all, end-all? Remember that in 2e, there weren't bonuses to damage for wielding weapons two-handed. Two-handed weapons only did an extra die-level's worth of damage, and that wasn't nearly enough to offset the advantage you get from a second...

    Excerpt: Weapons (MERGE)

There seems to be a very fine line between TWF being the be-all, end-all (2nd Edition) and being utter crap (3rd Edition). Hopefully, once we know all about 4e in a month, it will land right on the line.

D&D 4E Are 4E Paladins and Clerics MAD?

Holy Strike seemed to rely on Strength, actually.

D&D 4E Love It or Leave It: 4E Multiclassing

Initially I was sort of "meh," but I was willing to accept just about anything after the grotesque monster that was 3.5 multiclassing. So much so that any comparison to 3.5's multiclassing would be damning with faint praise. It's started to grow on me, though, now that I've thought of more and...

    D&D 4E Rate your interest in 4e.

It's actually grown on me after an initial reaction of "meh." That "meh" reaction meaning: "Well, it's better than 3.5's multiclassing, but making that comparison is damning with faint praise."

    Excerpts: Angels

Oh, hell yes. Although Feast for Crows was a bit of a letdown (granted there were circumstances). Hopefully Dance with Dragons is a return to form for GRRM.

    Pronounciation of Justiciar

Hi. Welcome to an age with a printing press, where wholesale changes of the Germanic ---> German and English magnitude to a language just don't happen.

    Excerpts: Angels

I hated The Wheel of Time, actually. I was thinking more of gods being flawed entities and opening themselves up to eternal damnation, just as mortals do. That's only one possibility out of many others that aren't "x betrays y because of z."

    Excerpts: Angels

Right, the devils and demons were fighting in the Blood Wars, fighting their own internal conflicts ... except those who were working for gods. And how were they working for gods? That part was never explored in the past. It was just assumed that evil gods had devil/demon servants because they...

    Excerpts: Angels

So you like the same ol' tired good vs. evil fluff. Gotcha. Most fantasy literature is unimaginative pulp fiction, and thus isn't worth the paper it's printed on. No, if they were trying to be more PC they wouldn't have even brought back the names of angel, devil and demon in the first place...

    Excerpts: Angels

Except that we didn't. Because devils and demons are not meant to be the servitor of some dark god. They are meant to be powers unto themselves, and 4e is finally making that a reality.

    Excerpts: Angels

Which made absolutely ZERO sense when you consider that devils/demons are supposed to work in their own interests, the two Fiendish Codexes (3.5 books) even saying as much. Devils/demons who are merely minions of evil gods (1) runs counter to that premise, and (2) are JUST. NOT. INTERESTING...

    Pronounciation of Justiciar

Personally, I pronounce "justiciar" like "Patricia" but with a hint of an "r" sound at the end. Rolls off the tongue perfectly.

    Pronounciation of Justiciar

And spelling, too. And I have to agree. Spelling and pronunciation are NOT matters of opinion. The English language is NOT a matter of opinion. If I lived in any other English-speaking country besides the U.S., I would adapt to spelling it "colour." Because where I would be living, that IS the...

    Pronounciation of Justiciar

Common usage nothing. So "your" is now an acceptable replacement for "you're"? Why not? Such improper usage has lasted longer than the not-a-word "justicar" has. "Justiciar" sounds better, anyway.

    D&D 3.x 4E Ruined My Love For 3.5

Yup. Pretty much. D&D 3.x is the only RPG system I have ever played or run for which I can safely estimate that I could make a nice 300-page book out of my own house rules. And very few of those would be tweaks of preference or flavor.

    Excerpt: Paragon paths (merged)

Stormwarden = Desert Wind but with lightning instead of fire. I like, I like. Half-correct. "Two enemies" with TBS seems pretty straightforward to me. I think it'll either be: 3 enemies hit (one with BS, two with TBS), or 2 enemies hit (one hit twice w/ TBS + BS, the other w/ just TBS)
