    Humans and Skill Points; EDITED

Not that it's official or anything, but E-Tools uses the interpretation where a human gets a minimum of 2 skill points per level.

Is a DM supposed to ensure level appropriate encounters, by the RAW?

I babysit them until 5th level, only giving them encounters I know they can beat. They're just too darn fragile. After 6th level, the kid gloves come off. Through dipomacy, guile, stealth, combat, or bravely running away the party can survive just about anything. I don't deliberately pit them...

    Statting A Villain

You just go through the template description for Vampire and change what it tells you to change. Going off of memory, I think you will retain your half-celestial abilities, even though you are now a nasty evil vampiric blackguard.

    The (new) ENworlder age poll!

So we stay grandma-friendly so as not to offend the innocent little ears of FIFTEEN young ENworlders? Kidding, of course. I like this place minus the flaming you get elsewhere.

Anyone else find it annoying to figure out skills for NPCs?

I find it easy. How many skill points does the NPC get per level? That's how many skills he has totally maxed out. Just pick 'em and move on. It's not like NPCs make that many skill checks anyway.

Piratecat's Updated Story Hour! (update 4/03 and 4/06)

It should get longer faster now that PC is honor-bound to actually POST to his story hour. :D

How to Fix a Slavery situation without murder? (Solved!)

You know, it's honestly starting to seem like Belle is the real problem here.

How to Fix a Slavery situation without murder? (Solved!)

Of course, the ironic thing to do would be press the slavers into slavery. Is that less evil than murder? Is there a particular brand or tattoo that slaves commonly wear? Would people believe a slave if they said they weren't really a slave?

How to Fix a Slavery situation without murder? (Solved!)

Sorry, I thought the goal was "free a particular group of slaves," not "defeat the slavers." You have to admit my method would have greater chances of both success and survival than attacking the slavers or trying to steal the slaves.

How to Fix a Slavery situation without murder? (Solved!)

Perhaps I'm missing something, but why don't they just buy all the slaves from the slavers, then free them?

    First-level Cleric Spells?

I'd focus on defensive spells for yourself, like Divine Favor, Entropic Shield, Sanctuary, and Shield of Faith. The other cleric in your party can cast the offensive and party-wide spells, so the only spells that you have that he can't cast on you are the personal spells.

How to Fix a Slavery situation without murder? (Solved!)

Who are the "slavers?" Are they a wealthy extended family, owning a slave-farm as their family business? When the PCs kill the slavers are they killing rough, crude, evil men, or are they killing women and children? When the PCs sneak into a room to kill a slaver are they going to find him...

Iron Bands of Bilarro and Coup de Grace?

Right. Ruling that dead people can't move or act is a very common house rule, but around my neck of the woods we like to game by the rules as written. So if the rules for Iron Bands just say the afflicted can't move, than that's the way it is! Oh, and offhand, does anybody know what Large...

Why no index is new WotC books? *Update: Received "official" answer... kinda...*

Do consider those to be well done, useful indices? I do not. I am usually unable to find what I want using them.

Iron Bands of Bilarro and Coup de Grace?

The argument is fairly simple. The DMG description of the "dead" condition fails to say that the creature with the condition is unable to move, speak, think, take actions, etc... It just says something about the soul departing the body and the body starting to decay.

Why no index is new WotC books? *Update: Received "official" answer... kinda...*

You don't write documents in LaTeX -- you code them. It's like a greatsword - heavy, clumsy, and unwieldy, but versitile powerful in the rights hands. And a lot of designing an index is reworking it to be consistent and useful. You can mark the phrase "fighter bonus feats" and it'll show...

What Race Do You Usually Play?

Human. I love feats, and being able to start off with two of them is sooo nice.

    "Prestige" Classes (Not PrC's)

In the general population, any individual who has grand and amazing deeds attributed to their name will have prestige. I think this is most likely to happen with the fighter classes, 'cause everybody loves a good sword fight.

    Fuzzy Knights in London, Baby!

I tell ya, I'm looking forward to the entire rest of the trilogy. But assuming there's over 200 episodes to go, that's like 4 years of work you have in store for yourself, Mossy! And that's assuming you get an episode out every single week!
