[Humour, True story] Why I prefer to DM, or three reasons to give up on gaming.

Funny stories. Reminds me of some of my own experiences. Finding new groups to game with can be extremely excruciating. AoO's are good, IMO. Without them, reach no longer matters as much, nor do things like casting spells or firing bows in melee range. If it all worked out for your group not to...

Persistant Idea in a Magic Item

Only the price of the secondary powers would be doubled. Since all of the abilities have the same price, just three of them should be doubled. Only saves 40000 gp in the long run, or 20000 gp and 1600 xp. It's still a hideously expensive item though, and something only very high level characters...

Ow... I think my brain exploded.

    Revised DR

What you quoted from Richard Baker was from the Realms mailing list. Why would he mention non-Realms products on the Realms mailing list? There are better places than that. Not mentioning them in saying they are somewhat forward compatible does not mean that they won't be.

Quicker than the Eye feat - broken?

It also means he can't move that round if he's going to be making an attack. In that case, why doesn't he just call in the fighter to stand on the other side of him for both the flanking bonuses and the ability to make a full attack? That'd give him sneak attack bonuses on *every* attack, not...

Improved Sneak Attack: good, bad or broken?

I know 1d8 becomes 2d6 when increasing weapon sizes, but if you're increasing damage from other things is this the method you're supposed to use? It'd also depend on the exact wordings of the feats, and examples they give. The original poster gave the example Superior Sneak Attack giving an...

    Improved Feint + Expert Tactician = ?

If it was your next attack action, then yes, that would be correct. It's just your next attack though, so it's only a singular attack. (Or three in the case of shuriken or two with Many Shot, but those are special cases.) I'm pondering make the feint work with a duration of one round, but I'm...

Improved Sneak Attack: good, bad or broken?

As far as I know, the only feats that can be taken multiple times specifically state that they can be taken multiple times. Examples: Weapon Focus, Toughness, Improved Critical, Weapon Proficiencies, etc. Just because it doesn't say you can't doesn't mean you can.

    Clerical Vampire Question

No, that is not correct. Energy Drain only takes place when the Vampire uses his Slam attack. He'd have to cast the inflict spell, hold the charge until next round and then make an attack roll against the full AC. He'd deal both the regular slam damage plus the inflict damage plus the Energy...

    Improved Feint + Expert Tactician = ?

He has lost his Dex bonus, and so you do benefit from Expert Tactician. He receives his Dex bonus after the first attack though, so an attack from Expert Tactician would not get sneak attack damage added to it. The Feinting in Combat section is specific: "If you are successful, the next attack...

    Double Weapon Fighter PrCs

The Weapon Master from S&F isn't specifically a two-weapon fighter PrC but it works just as well for any weapon. Higher number of attacks also means you'll probably get more opportunities to use the Increased Multiplier ability. I'm curious about the actual source of those feats. They'd have a...

    Elven Thinblade?

They might add it to the PHB, in which case it probably will be an elven weapon.

    Elven Thinblade?

Can someone confirm that? The rest of it looks fine except for the threat + multiplier. Not a big deal if it's x3, but with the 18-20 you'd figure that they'd have avoided that.

    Please rate the Assassin

A Rogue 5/Assassin 1 with a 14 int (+2 bonus) is only going to have a DC 13 Fort save for their death attack. A level 6 Wizard with 12 Con (+3 Fort bonus) would have a 55% chance to save against that. More if they've raised their Fort saves in some way (Great Fortitude, limited save bonus items...

    Please rate the Assassin

On the whole, I feel the class is very well-designed and works well within its purpose. It's well-balanced throughout, although the 10th level really doesn't offer a whole lot. A very smart assassin with lots of ranks in Disguise can be one of the most difficult things for a PC to face in a...

    Revised DR

Large weapon wielders deal all of their damage in large potent hits. Since DR's are going to be reduced to much smaller numbers now, between 5 and 15, the two-handed wielder will almost always be able to just smash through it anyway. It looks like it is going to hurt the two-weapon fighter even...

D&D 3.x Playing in a DND3E game with no magic items

I've played in such a game twice. Once, it worked out cause the DM knew what he was doing and worked hard to make effective challenges. The other time, well, you can guess what happened. The CR system is based on a balanced party of four PC's with normal stats and appropriate gear for their...

Haste and recovery from multiple rounds of stunning

You'll recover in 10 rounds. Haste doesn't affect the durations of other spells and effects that are on you.

Thanks, guys, you've ruined Haste for the rest of us.

And I say good luck hitting with every attack every round. Try running that through one of those combat calculators with various AC's to see how likely it is he'll be able to do all of that all of the time.

Trip as an action.. many questions.. also, is it worth it to trip an opponnent?

Expertise + Improved Trip is a great feat chain (all two of them) to follow if you can. Against some opponents, trips are nearly impossible. Against others though, you can prevent a full-attack against you while still getting your full-attacks.
