    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #2: "New Fighter"

I really wish people would learn that their calculations at any level past 2nd or 3rd vary from table to table, and in the end, are really nothing more rigid than a cloud. And by level 8 and above, you can forget about all of the calculations. I have never seen a table where the classes are...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Feats/Backgrounds/Species

They are directly tied to class. When you do point buy or standard array or roll for abilities, you (not anyone else, but you) get to assign them. You get to place them where you want. You get to choose whether your fighter is dexterous or strong or both. What you are talking about is adding an...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Feats/Backgrounds/Species

You're right, that is one opinion. There are others.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Feats/Backgrounds/Species

One point out of a possible 28 is not a "half step behind." It is barely 3%. But this is the problem, and I stated it earlier. It will boil down to perception. But it might roleplay out that way.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #2: "New Fighter"

Is the eldritch knight going to be better than everything else? The Magic 8 Ball predicts - "Absolutely". ;)

    D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Dungeon Master's Guide's Greyhawk Map

And this may be a novice question, but does anyone know if Thunder Rift and Orlane from Against the Cult of the Reptile God are on this map? If so, what region? Thanks in advance to those more knowledgeable.

Awesome map. Something about the shape of the continent I have always liked.

D&D General Your last adventure in photos.

That lighting looks great. And yikes, that is some close quarters, enough to make the wizard very nervous I bet. ;) Really like the hut. Nice touch!

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Feats/Backgrounds/Species

It should be noted that you are starting the argument from the base of an adventurer - not the general public. Therefore, everything you are saying is invalid. The commoner, and by that I mean blacksmith, carpenter, merchant, sailor, farmer, etc. has a 10 intelligence. That is the average. So...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Feats/Backgrounds/Species

I agree. To split the two might be a bit pedantic. But maybe they can create a new version of each for me. I'm open to it, but it does feel like they are the same.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Feats/Backgrounds/Species

Again, not really. Is that urchin a little less smart. Well yes, if the point buy can't exceed 15. They will be a +1 behind the top most optimized. Might they gain something else from the street urchin background that makes them unique, and dare I say, even better than that +1 optimizer? The...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Feats/Backgrounds/Species

I might push back a little on that. I think that number will be 20%-30% also. I think there is a middle-majority where things will work out as intended. I do not disagree that the 20%-30% people forced into picking a background they don't want for optimization's sake will be disgruntled. It is...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Feats/Backgrounds/Species

For some players. Others (my guess is 20%-30%) will be happy to play sub-optimal designs if it matches their character's story origin, motives, or player's vision.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Feats/Backgrounds/Species

To be fair, I think @Horwath is worried about the same thing that others used to complain about - to get to the coveted 16 at first level, you must play this (fill the blank) race. There were many, and I mean many, complaints about that. Personally, it never bothered me because not having a 16...

D&D General Why 5E Adventurs Suck!!!!!

Didn't Colville do a video on this or something? I thought someone posted it on these forums. I watched it and thought his conclusions were logical; smaller modules back in the day helped people piece together campaigns and finish stories without the fear of party breakup, schedule mishaps...
