Real estate in medieval fantasy (Greyhawk)

Hello all. My group is getting to the point where it is thinking about purchasing a mansion-like dwelling in an upscale neighborhood of Greyhawk (the Garden District). This building would function kind of like a headquarters for the group. This has led me to start thinking about real estate...

    Previous purchasers of Buff Cards

Will previous purchasers of Buff Cards get any kind of update or patch to get the revisions that were added to Buff Cards (Revised)?

What do you consider "de facto" core?

None of the above. Core is core. Period. Everything else is an optional add-on.

Menexenus's Age of Worms Campaign Journal

Session 32: Exploring the Hall of the Rainbow Mage 24th of Goodmonth. After accepting the surrender of a rival gang of adventurers, they were relieved of their magical items and released after pledging not to return. Then the party continued its exploration of the Rainbow Mage's house. After...

Since I am the party's wizard, I always wear my purple Vaarsuvius pin (pinned onto my work shirt).

    Real world geology: Greyhawk

This is a great point. I had never really thought of it before, but you're quite right. Rivers only become convenient borders as the result of a treaty (like the Rio Grande after the Mexican-American War). Under more natural circumstances, though, peoples would be united by rivers, not divided.

    Real world geology: Greyhawk

I take it this comment is in reference to the "Slavers" module that was released in 1998 (or so) for late 2nd edition, which had slave ships moving cargo from the Nyr Dyv to the Woolly Bay via the Selintan. It never occurred to me whether those ships ought to be able to make that trip...

    Real world geology: Greyhawk

Thanks also to Maldin, whose prolific devotion to (and expansion of) Greyhawk canon is widely admired and greatly appreciated. I discovered Maldin's Greyhawk website (linked below) back in 1998 and have always found it to be an incredibly useful resource. Thanks for all you do, and keep up the...

    Real world geology: Greyhawk

Quasqueton's poll/thread about real world geology reminded me of a question that has been smo(u)ldering in the back of my mind for many years now. I didn't want to hijack his thread, but I do want to get an answer to my question at long last. Has anyone other than me found it strange that in...

Menexenus's Age of Worms Campaign Journal

Session 31: Hall of the Rainbow Mage 23rd of Goodmonth. After a fortnight on the road, the party was finally nearing its destination: Rosewater, a small town that was once home to the Rainbow Mage. As the party broke camp to begin the final leg of their journey, Thorash revealed that he had...

    Pinpointing area spells

In response to OP: Yeah, it's a bit unrealistic that players can maximize the effects of their spells by hovering over the battlefield and choosing the exact grid crossing without any chance for error. But in my group we just grin and bear it. After all, how much fun is it to accidentally...

Menexenus's Age of Worms Campaign Journal

Session 30: Conflict between Wee Jas and St. Cuthbert 21st of Reaping. After the shopkeeper returned the Berserker Sword to the party and took most of their spare cash as compensation, the party was at a loss regarding how to unload their cursed items for a profit. Killick stayed in bed...

    babsitters and gaming

I tried to get my wife involved in D&D, but she didn't care for it. In retrospect, I guess that's a good thing, because now I have a built in babysitter on game night! ;) I never thought about it this way before. Thanks, Nathal, for showing me the up-side of having a wife who thinks D&D...

Menexenus's Age of Worms Campaign Journal

Session 29: Death to the Mind-Flayer! 18th of Reaping. The party had just encountered a levitating mindflayer in a large silo-shaped cathedral floating 40 feet above a shallow pool swimming with large tadpoles. The mind-flayer had stunned Alexander and Killick's dog, then it had cast a...

    Knight of Holy Shielding PrC?

Seriously? No one has seen (or created) a Knights of Holy Shielding prestige class? I find that very surprising.

    What happens to stunned flyers?

Suppose someone flying around by means of the Fly spell is stunned by a mind-flayer's stunning attack. What happens to the flyer, according to the D&D rules? Do they hover in place where they ended their last turn? Do they continue on their previous trajectory until they hit something? Do...
