    Torg/Master Book RPG system...

My group enjoyed Torg quite a bit too. We even imported the drama deck into our other games. It fit almost perfectly into Feng Shui.

    OotS 476 is up

Maybe Belkar is the only guy who can speak Infernal (or are the roaches Abyssal?) :D

Is the age of discounts over?

I got into the game because I could buy the basic box in a mall toy store -- and that's the only RPG stuff they carried. I'm rather suspicious of the claim that FLGS's serve as much of an entry point, since they're typically in out of the way places and one has to specifically look them up...

Is the age of discounts over?

My suspicion is that Amazon and Wal-Mart will continue to discount however they want because they've got the negotiating ability to force WotC to cooperate -- -- but places like RPGShop and other, smaller online retailers will be driven out of business since they'll be held to FLGS minimum...

D&D 4E 4E is to be announced at GenCon?

I've heard they've been dismembered, then sewn back together and will serve as a "live" model for the 4e Flesh Golem.

What to do about a publisher not paying?

Have to say, Mark, only in the RPG biz would be getting paid what you're actually owed be considered a good result! :D Morrus's freelancer/publisher matchup system sounds like a terrific addition to the site and something that could be quite valuable. Even a little bit of accountability...

What to do about a publisher not paying?

Personally I'm not so convinced that one should keep it a private matter. Certainly in the beginning while trying to work it out and look at your other options -- -- but poor freelancers often don't have any other options given the costs of legal action. And some people exploit that --...

What to do about a publisher not paying?

Has anyone ever done this in RPG freelancing who can share their experience? I'd be interested to learn how it turned out. I'm sure the worry for any freelancer is that attorneys earn for more per hour than RPG work, and that you'd almost certainly spend more on the attorney than get from the...

    OotS 452

It didn't seem to me to be a rag on lawful-stupid either, just a little story showing the range of human reactions to a situation that looks really bad. Either that or showing the range of morale check results! :D

OOTS 450 - Wands are for Suckers

I got the page of death -- then an interminably long loading icon, but that at least gave me hope! So I left the tab open, washed some dishes, read a few other web places, then it finally loaded enough to see the comic! It was like walking to school in 2 byte baud snowstorm.

    We're Back! Mongoose Book Releases

No longer nervous -- just in time for a GenCon release! :D And, with a little luck, I might be able to afford a trip this year.

Does anyone still play Dragon Star?

I still think it was a concept with some real potential. I wonder to what extent it was hurt by not using d20 Modern/Future as the base rules (or waiting to use them).

Thanks for pointing that out! I missed it the first time through.

    The problem of sundering

That's true. I had always rule-zeroed that weird game choice away so fast that it didn't occur to me. My house rule goes along the lines of the preparing from someone else's spellbook, but making the Spellcraft check once is all you need to do. I treat it as if that first inscribing of the...
