Give me a few minutes and the mithril info will be there too :D

    Oots 423

Is the elemental a flashback to the old DC comics Metal Men? The symbol on the chest reminds me of their style.

    CMP: On its way out?

I'm using UltraEdit -- but you should be able to do this in most other programs. The Macro for PCGEN tabbed to Paragraphs just goes: FIND {paragraph mark} REPLACE WITH {tab}### FIND {tab} REPLACE WITH {paragraph mark} I only run the macro within selected text, instead of the whole file --...

    CMP: On its way out?

That's one advantage of an XML format. What I do when working with .lst files is have a macro set up to switch from tab-delimited to paragraph delimited, then back again. That makes it much easier to do data entry.

I actually already own most of the apps that intrigue me, and have used OpenRPG, WebRPG, and GRiP in the past. I've only got one player and he runs multiple chars so KloOge currently works by far the best -- despite the java problems. I've looked at ViewingDale but I suspect it doesn't quite...

    good 1-20 level module?

There are a bunch of ways to cobble together an adventure taking players from 1-12, but the higher levels are really thin. Gary Gygax's Necropolis can carry from 10-18 if you're looking to fill out the top. It does seem a little brutal in that Tomb of Horrors way at times though. But great...

    Highlights of D&D!

One other nice thing about the d20 is that it keeps a fair number of things more in the realm of possibility and risk. I'm a long-time Champions gamer too (but not that Steve Peterson) and one thing we learned over time is that the 3d6 probability distribution throws an awful lot of emphasis on...

    [March] What are you playing?

Magic Online mostly now -- well, not RIGHT now since they've got another glitch.

While I wouldn't pay a monthly fee for any of the existing solutions, I could imagine doing so for a high-end solution that included an external server. I think a fair bit of my problems with lag and occasional disconnects are due to the fact that my computer is essentially hosting the server...

    OGL: Faserip?

What's worse, there are only few dozen who buy them!

    Best of Necromancer?

I guess I'll be the one to get the two obvious ones out of the way: Rappan Athuk Reloaded and Tomb of Abysthor. They can be a bit hard on players but are the exact opposite of rail-roading -- players have all sorts of different ways they can choose to go or explore and approach problems...

    CMP: On its way out?

Replying to your announcement here since the server host might randomly explode anything over at CMP. Best of luck in what you do next and thanks for always popping in to sometimes hostile crowds to post updates and keep people informed!

    I won't fault them -- I just won't buy them.

    New "Dead Levels"

Actually, the vast array of dead levels in 1st and 2nd edition are a big reason why I stopped running D&D -- then came back in 3rd edition.

    New "Dead Levels"

I'm in favor of the new change. For me, just seeing a couple numbers go up is rather tedious -- even moreso when I'm thinking, at the back of my mind, that the opponents' numbers are also going up, so it's kind of like nothing happened at all. It's much more interesting being able to pick...

Thanks again. That is a rather impressive array of talent.

    MARS Q&A

I was curious about who the chief writers are on this and if you have any of their other credits handy? Thanks! Looks very interesting.

    WOTC switch to watermarking, finally...

I'm not sure how true this is for an online store that deals in only digital products. WotC already sells Magic Online decks and boosters through a webfront and that's certainly not going away given that it makes probably $7000 per monthly league and probably starts about 3-5 leagues of that...

    WOTC switch to watermarking, finally...

I'd like to as well -- probably OA, maybe Lords of Madness. But I really wish more of the modules were available. Those are the kind of thing I particularly like in PDF.

    WOTC switch to watermarking, finally...

With this 30% off sale exactly matching the price recommended and used by White Wolf for their PDFs I suspect that WotC is testing the PDF market as something other than a "we're just selling to people in Siberia and/or cyberfiends". Moreover, I don't think it's purely an issue of how much...
