Pathfinder 1E [Paizo Publishing] Paizo Announces Monty Python's Spamalot Grail Giveaway

Coconuts don't count as food items?! I'm shocked at the oppression inherent in the system.

Have fantasy novels gotten "better" since D&D?

I don't know from novels, but I do think D&D has had a positive impact on television. We have a number of terrific shows on now where I suspect the writers have benefited from the training in the episodic, serial narrative that RPGs gives.

    Mapping out Lochshire

That's pretty cool! I'll have to experiment with that after the great computer upgrade of '07.

    VGT Comparisons

For me, the java problem isn't merely a slow load-up. When I go to import an icon file (like a saved monster) there's a long wait just to get the folder view open -- then navigating to each sub-folder also has a long wait. In the past I wanted to keep my personal saved materials in My Docs...

    ~11-13th level adventures?

    Gary Gygax's Necropolis covers 10th to 18th if you're looking for a mega-module.

    VGT Comparisons

Currently I'm using Klooge. The map controls, zooming, setting scale, large viewing area, and folders for tokens work really well. Also, the targeting arrows are a godsend over the internet. The java is still a bit of a pain though, so I'm going to give Fantasy Grounds another try when version...

Temple of the Frog d20 from WotC?

Thanks much for finding the link, Shroomy -- I was looking for it and getting nowhere. This will make a great follow-up to Tomb of Abysthor.

    D&D Tactics

I'd love to see something like the Gold Box games too -- even simple 2d counters on maps would be fine with me. I'm sort of surprised that we haven't seen any small developer experiment with putting together a simple game like that using the OGL. Use some open content ability score and...

    D&D Tactics

That's the one I'm looking forward to as well -- and no PSP yet! Hopefully Christmas will come in March though.

    ICE and the ENnies

Coming from an academic philosophy background and knowing that you come from an academic philosophy background I'd think you'd understand that accusations of inconsistency seldom lead to constructive debate and typically just leave departments in shambles while everyone accuses everyone else of...

    ICE and the ENnies

I don't quite understand what's wrong with appealing to a core value such as everyone gets their own vote, nor why appealing to it would be arbitrary. I'm not talking here about some abstract principle of democracy, but the simple principle that in the vote we each get our say and we each get...

    ICE and the ENnies

Trying to keep the quoting to a minimum without sacrificing the core of the post: Regarding the particulars, I, personally, won't argue much over whether the RPG experience was limited to one or three years. My main concern would simply be to avoid conflict of interest. I'd want to make sure...

    CMP: On its way out?

For me speed is actually the main bugbear of the app -- though I keep hoping that one of these computer upgrade cycles (go core2duo!) will eventually render that moot. since you're here I'd like to mention two things: 1) For some reason it really bogs down with high level characters for me. I...

    ICE and the ENnies

Responding to the debate part: From what I understand judge candidates express their interest and post a brief bio and/or answer questions, then the public votes for the candidates they prefer. As far as I can tell there are no official rules against anyone running (someone correct me if I'm...

    CMP: On its way out?

If that's true then both WotC and CMP would be vulnerable to a class-action lawsuit when RPG Foundry comes out.

    CMP: On its way out?

Have to say that I'm not sure we'll ever see RPG Foundry. Every week I check to see if there are any updates and every week there's some excuse as to why there aren't any updates. When you're saying that there's no update because one of the bosses' computer went down, and that goes on for a...

    Turn-based wargame maker?

If you're not looking for an AI or having the computer automate everything then you can use The Vassal Engine There have been a few wargames specifically built for it, and it already has modules for playing D&D or D&D miniatures via it. The other wargame construction kits that I've seen...

    ICE and the ENnies

I do think it might be worthwhile to establish a few super-categories for core types of books, like campaign setting, rules supplement, or so on, and only allow products to be entered into one of these super-categories. The publisher could then nominate the category they want to be in, and the...

    Software category?

Software tends to be a kind of continuing thing given the way most of the programs keep evolving with patches -- so it's sort of like websites. Perhaps allow software from previous years to keep entering and the award indicate which of the various applications current patch versions/editions...
