*Sigh*, now I have video card problems...

It might be that your power supply doesn't have the wattage needed for your card. I was looking at video cards recently and noticed that some of them required a 350 watt or even 450 power supply -- and I've got a slightly older computer that isn't rated for that.

The Great EN World News Poll: Part 2 (d20 News/PDFs)

That would be very cool -- a sort of Gaming Portal ala Yahoo or Google homepage. You would dominates the internets and eventually go public and rake in billionses of Euros.

The Great EN World News Poll

I like seeing big news days, makes it feel like a real newspaper -- but fun instead of telling me how close we are to armageddon. Even the sections I skim over (like fiction) occasionally have bits that interest me.

The Great EN World News Poll: Part 2 (d20 News/PDFs)

Just want to mention that even though I buy quite a few PDFs I'd likely not not check a seperate page for PDF news. At any rate, the way things are going nowadays the major source of support for all kinds of d20 is in PDF. I barely see any d20 stuff at the FLGS.

Voice chat makes a huge difference, so pick up Skype or Yahoo with Voice if you can. Things move much faster and people pay better attention.

I LOVE the examples! Thanks much for sharing that.

Sacred Cow Death Watch: Do you use material components?

Technically, I don't have a "free eschew components" rule -- but since I never bother with them unless they're pricey it amounts to about the same thing.

    My Beef with Social Skills

I figure I should be allowed some pimpage here since I wrote a short PDF specifically addressing some of the issues mentioned in this thread: Skill Focus: Talking My goal was to create a small collection of special actions that one could take while roleplaying out a scene -- these actions...

    Say I was wondering.....

Sorry joesk, I was travelling for the last few days. I had Lords of Creation too and it was a pretty cool game. We never did get up to the high levels in it, though. The Second World is more of a straight two dimension modern/fantasy setting, though suggestions are included for adding in...

[2WS] New Release -- Skill Focus: Talking, and now all books available at ENWorld

Thanks! I was considering Gather Information but it's not really a skill I typically roleplay out -- though it might get players to a person where they do talk. Also, if I can come up with any interesting ideas, I'd like to put together a Skill Focus: Investigation PDF, and Gather Info seemed...

Rappan Athuk: Reloaded SOLD OUT by wide margin!!

Congrats to Necromancer on getting this put together and doing so well. I'll be purchasing the PDF version since advenures work particularly well for me as e-books.

Attack of Opportunity -- does it deserve to survive to v.4?

Readied actions are nice in concept, but awful in execution. Fighter readies action to protect wizard, then opponents decide to do soemthing else like drink a potion or throw a javelin or attack the druid. Fighter wastes an entire round; player, frustrated by not actually getting to play, comes...

SC2.0 conversions of d20M base classes

Or maybe talk those publishers into releasing Spycrafted versions of the above. Actually, I've been contemplating putting together a Blood and Fistsed version of Master of Arms. I say we merge all rules into one, monstrous amalgam with a rules heaviness so intense that not even roleplaying can...

Attack of Opportunity -- does it deserve to survive to v.4?

This is what Mearls calls a "Mother, may I?" rule. The player can't simply perform an action by looking at the terrain; instead they have to ask the GM if they're allowed to get past the defender. By hard-coding the AoO rules players gain more control over the game. They can design their...

Attack of Opportunity -- does it deserve to survive to v.4?

Personally, I think AoO's work fine -- but as a designer, given all the griping one sees about them, I'd devote a lot of playtest time looking into alternatives.

Charles Stross on Gary Gygax as World Dictator

Charles Stross, author of futurist books such as Accelerando and Singularity Sky has a post titled Gary Gygax, World Dictator up -- here's part of it: If you subscribe to the theory that the structure of a language also structures the ways of thinking of its native speakers, then think about...

Your Favorite RPG Supplement, for any Game, Period

I'd have a hard time limiting it to one -- and I'll leave out d20/D&D stuff for the moment so I can see a few years down the line what stands the test of time. Also leaving out modules since they often get their own thread. From the past: Strikeforce by Aaron Allston was a really cool...

    Campaign Cartographer 3

I'm a crappy mapper, so I haven't been able to make the most of it, but so far it's a nice upgrade. In addition to the old layers you've got drawing sheets -- which seem to me to act like layers, but a little more intuitive. The one thing still missing that I would have liked is a Photoshop or...
