I'd thought of battlecaster, but I'll check out Hexblade. I can't keep all those fighter/wizard-type-classes straight.
My real problem is I can't decide which is better in the long run and right NOW. I'm making the meatshield for RtToEE and he has to survive in the mean time.
I'm making a new ECL 8 character. Probably a TH power-atacker w/a reach weapon.
Is is it worth it to take ltheDragon Disciple prestige class? Or should I just use the 1/2 dragon template and suffer the LA?
Now it's clear that Miko's had a fallen-paladin-story-arc from the very beginning. Next comes losing her powers, trying to rationalize it, and finally becoming evil. And then in the end, hopefully, Belkar will kill her.
People always say monks suck and/or blow, but all the monks I've seen in play were pretty effective. They don't do uber-damage, but they have lots of neat tricks, good skills, they're hard to kill, and they always have loads of extra cash for random magic equipment.
I play a barb/scout/fighter who only fights melee. I think scout archers are cheesy. Skirmish damage should have been restricted to melee or thrown weapons.
Compared with damage I get off 2H PA/leap attack, the skirmish damage is almost for flavor. Skirmish damage lags behind Sneak Attack...
I've found a supers game can be a great intro into RPGs for non gamers. If they know about comics, they can pick up the rest pretty fast.
I'd advise chopping up the scenes a lot more than in other games. Don't RP every time they drive across town or pick up their dry cleaning or whatever...
I was thinking about this the other day.
There could be one pool for all X/day abilities. A character could dip into a class for one level to pick up Rage, Turn Undead, Smite Evil, Breath Weapons, or whatever (which is what happens anyway). Even a crazy multiclass build w/lots of tricks...
A player in my group just made a new half-ogre monk, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out. I think high Str and Large-sized monks are pretty awesome. But like anything w/LA, they're fragile at low levels until the higher Con bonus makes up for lost hit dice.
When I first started playing 3.x, i used them for several characters. Then I realized they were bonuses and not actual ranks; thus they don't help characters qualify for prestige classes... :o oops.
I've seen an orderly retreat one or two times when a wiz announces he's going to Dim Door/Teleport in T - 3 rounds. Usually no one thinks to retreat until PCs are already dropping.
I don't like how multiclassing rules currently work. Esp. since 3.x encourages weird builds where characters dip into five different classes for one or two levels. I think a base class should encourage players to stick w/it by giving better stuff at higher levels, rather than xp penalties for...
Imagine trying to write an adventure where a 3rd level rogue PC might have 6 ranks in move silently or 40. How would you set the DCs for traps, locks, etc.? What would the NPC's sense motives be set at? What about prestige class requirements?
I don't like it either, but I understand the...
I think you're making a lot of work for yourself for something that might come out really unbalanced. Honestly, I'd just give them sorcerer levels, so you can figure out ECLs/CRs w/o a headache.
If I were going to do it, I would make it as simple as possible:
Get rid of human bonus feat and...
