    D&D 3.x Monk 3.5

Hey, man. Small monks are not really the best. They're slower, they have a grappling penalty, they do less damage (size), and they have lower strength. Check out he ascetic feats if you have access to them. They let you multiclass w/other classes and stack levels for certain things. If you...

    D&D 3.x Monk 3.5

If you're a half orc, you could go w/half-orc paragon from UA. THen you could stay lawful and still get rage. I don't know if those levels would stop you from ever advancing as a monk again or not...

    Counter-intuitive monsters

20th level commoner. I think I read the Monster Manual too early in my childhood for D&D monsters to counter my intuition. Rust monsters, piercers, gelatinous cubes? Those are what monsters should be like.

"Present" for a Rogue (L7) vs. Golems???

A wand of orb of acid, lesser CL9. 10 charges.

D&D 4E Star Wars Saga Edition as preview of 4e?

Modern Base Classes. Talents are under the Class Features. http://www.darkshire.net/~jhkim/rpg/srd/srd_modern_html/msrdbasicclasses.html

D&D 4E Star Wars Saga Edition as preview of 4e?

So powergamers will stick with one class and cherry-pick talents/feats instead of dipping into half a dozen classes for a level or two. Doesn't that make the archetype stronger? That's what I was thinking. That's a real help for GM. It made my M&M games go so much faster.

High level d20 non-D&D games - how do they hold up?

Theoretically True 20 should hold up at any level. I've heard people complaining about the spell users at high levels though. They say the damage output of an adept far outclasses any melee type.

The advantages/disadvantages of making an 'untouchable'?

It could make a for a cool NPC or encounter. Maybe not for a PC, b/c it would be a pain to balance encounters, heal, and so on. Instead of an AMF, which is kinda extreme and causes rules funkiness, maybe you could make them immune to magic ala golems. That way they're not supressing...

    3 Years of Unearthed Arcana

I've used alternate classes and alternate class features. Whirling Frenzy, battle Sorcerer, et. al. I like the idea of racial paragon levels and bloodlines, but I just can't give up the HD and saves and BAB. I played in one game w/gestalts, but it was just too over the top for me.

    Magic Item Compendium

I think body-slots are not a great way to control magic item use and abuse. It's a relic of the old editions. Now we have bonus types that don't stack and THAT's the real way magic items are managed. Personally, I like the idea of a character with one or two reallly powerful items than one...

    Magic Item Compendium

Is that how it works? I thought it only worked on the genero-bix-6-items. Combining boots of speed and boots of elvenkind and boots of S&S might not work, but making your boots add a +2 enh to saves might. I don't know though, I haven't looked at the book yet.

D&D 4E Star Wars Saga Edition as preview of 4e?

I didn't care for D20Modern's talent-trees b/c they were kinda boring. BUT I do like the idea of talent trees alot, and putting class features in talent trees sounds good. We almost have it now, with alternate class features coming out in new books, and w/stuff like the ranger's "combat...

    Elder PCs

i've played a couple old spellcasters. I don't like the stat adjustments for age, actually. It keeps people from playing the older/veteren warrior, which is a cool archetype.

PrCs - which ones are (a bit) over the edge?

Maybe broken. Probably broken for some crazy builds, but what isn't? It's a strong class to make up for weak fighter/mage multiclassers who lose high level spells and high BABs. Kinda like how mystic theurge fixes cleric/wizards. Also their class ability to increase an Abj. spell's armor or...

    D&D 3.x Monk 3.5

At lower levels, I would recommend a monk w/twf, a quarterstaff, and lot of oils of Shillelagh.

    "Standard Thief S***"

The SOP is fine, but how often do thieves have the time to search every inch of the dungeon? Our parties always move fast so our buffs don't run out, b/c we have a time limit or objective, or b/c we're in a running battle. Half the time, we just force the monk to open the door so we can keep...

    Oddest builds...

I'll raise... Goblin Cleric of Kord (fullplate/lance/mounted feats) riding on a war-boar with horseshoes of speed. That little guy kicked ass.

Whats a reasonable AC at 10th level?

Wow. I just started playing a new character at ECL8, and I thought getting an AC of 28 was freakin' awesome. But here he's just pretty good.
