Elisha Cuthbert to play Sue Storm in 'FF'

^Yeah, Chiklis is what gave me a glimmer of hope. Oh well, maybe it'll be based on the Ultimate FF comic.

Elisha Cuthbert to play Sue Storm in 'FF'

From Lying in the Gutters: Good ol' Kim. I'm actually not all that outraged, though I do wish we could have a mature FF, and leave Reed with his grey temples.

    Elves vs. Vulcans

There's also the afterlife. Elves travel 'beyond the sea' and achieve a kind of immortality stripped of emotion (to put it one way) while Vulcans have their experiences (katra) collected in some kind of... um... hard-drive or something. Food for thought.

Thanks, I might take a look at that.

    Elves vs. Vulcans

^Thank you! That's one of the things I was trying to get at (I'm just not all that articulate sometimes): What is essential about elves in your campaign -- what makes them not just humans with pointed ears?

Starting Lovecraft - need some advice

I picked up my collections long ago, so I'm not sure what's out there these days. There is an interesting article about Conan's relation to the Cthulu mythos (scroll down the page) I ran across recently:

    Elves vs. Vulcans

There are some similarities between Vulcans and elves, and some obvious differences. Are there campaigns out there where the elves are more like their spacefaring cousins (ie. tend toward dispassion, etc, like Elrond in LotR)? Also, what do you find essential about elves in a fantasy setting --...

    Vulcan's Soul #1: Exodus (excerpt)

Check it out: ---- No, Surak's principles were not just intellectual: they were an integral part of his life. And expressed so persuasively it drew a pang from his host. Surak ate no meat, not just because meat was the result of the end of a life, but because it was too wasteful of resources on...

    The Ultimates: Homeland Security

^I felt exactly the same way as you, but ULTIMATES got me back into comics after a ten year absence. It simply rocks. I cannot wait for the Hard Cover. But don't take my word for it -- read issues #1 - 3 free right here.

    Help Finding Fey Critters

I'm afraid I can't help, but I wouldn't mind learning a bit more about fey creatures either. :)

'Loki' gets his own comic -- and it looks great!

Really can't complain about that art. It's a painted, high-fantasy style that really suits the subject-matter. Grand, I say... and free! :)

Invincible -- my new favorite comic!

This is fun, fast-paced, and a lot happens in just one issue -- everything a superhero comic should be. All of issue #1 is available here from Image.

    Hawaiian Dick: The Last Resort

The first story was grand, and the trade is readily available for those of you who missed it. It's got a moody 50s feel, and combines Jazz music, Hawaii, the detective genre and... um... like zombies and voodoo and sh*t :) There's a five-page preview of Last Resort here.

    American Comics vs. Manga

Manga to Comics: “I am Godzilla, and you are Japan!” (at least according to this article at Newsarama). So, giant monster or healthy kick in the pants?

    ^Yeah, that's wierd -- but intriguing :)

Ultimate Fantastic Four - Full Issue Online

This series started off great, but I found the last few issues a bit boring. However, with WARREN ELLIS taking over with this issue (#7), you can bet I'll be sticking around a bit longer.

That's so cool. I can't believe you noticed that.

    the Seven Samurais

^You're in for a treat -- I saw it for the first time about six months ago and really loved it. It was much more realistic and down-to-earth than I would have imagined. The peasants are great!
