Dude. Does every single response from you have to be a stake in the damn ground about how much you haven't liked anything from WotC ever? Like, we get it. We've heard it.

Yeah, I think there's definitely two camps. There's people who want more from WotC, while at the same time there are people who think that output hasn't been well designed recently and wants actually fewer releases.

Our current group is not adversarial, though I've played with groups where that feeling did exist between the GM and the players (not fun). I would say right now, nobody is actively seeking to create advantages off the rules, but when it does happen, I think we let it ride for one session, but...

Which is just so crazy to me because as much as people get spun up over backwards compatibility, I think 2e remains the only edition that really had backwards compatibility baked in because TSR management was so adamant that it had to work seamlessly with 1e material - probably the last time...

I think there’s a difference between foreshadowing and being obvious. When characters are actively saying “is it the kid?”, that’s not really foreshadowing anymore.

Not to mention, no one is there to hand out an award for supposedly flawless logic.

I think one thing that can help is change the way you run the game by asking direct questions of each player about what they're going to do, ending with the leader. Engage them individually, and get them used to speaking up for what they want their PC to do. Similarly, when the speaker player...

You may need to elaborate with some specific examples. I can't tell if this is just hesitancy to speak up during games since there's at least one player who is making themselves the defacto "speaker", if it's because they're new to TTRPGs, or if it's because they're more accustomed to tactical...
