Monsters in art gallerys, but not in the books

Ahh yes, but after all the fall is a punishment, and giving an evil celestial the power to do more evil stuff is hardly in Heaven's best interests. ;)

Monsters in art gallerys, but not in the books

Actually, the "bug trooper" appeared in the Living Greyhawk Journal as the "phalanx insect". It's a shame that so many critters have been left out. Although I'm happy that no fallen celestial template will ever come out of WotC... I just can't see them doing it right. They'd end up making it...

Monsters in the MM3 (and other upcoming books)

I like the flind. Looks like a good straight conversion. I wish WotC had more of those. As for the kenku... yuck. Too great of a departure from the AD&D version. Like the uldra from Frostburn, I'm happier with the CC version. However, if you gave them a different name, they could probably work...

    Sorry, double post.

Monsters in the MM3 (and other upcoming books)

Personally, I'm very, very glad to see neanderthals given stats. I've long wanted to give them a role in my homebrew world, but I was too lazy to whip up stats myself. Although neanderthals tend to be a little more civilized in my homebrew, it should just be a matter of minor adjustments to...

    Tiamat and Bahamut

Yeah. Tiamat and Bahamut were done as around CR 25 dragons in Manual of the Planes and then as full-fledged gods in Deities & Demigods.

    Pale Night

Hm... I hate to say so, but I don't think there is anything more on Pale Night beyond the books you mentioned... I could be wrong, though. Anyone know better?

    I'm sorry I was a Troll.

Yeah, um... sorry for calling you a troll too... I stand by my opinions but I apologize if I was a little pigheaded. Truth to tell, though, I actually ended up learning a great deal about the origins of Tolkien's work in the other thread from other posters. Go figure.

Children of Bahamut (Converted Unique Dragons)

Woah... total awesomeness... Regarding the ferrous dragons, they actually range the alignment spectrum. Most are neutral, but a few are good or evil.

    How tokien ruined modern fantasy

Since I have loved Tolkien's works since I was a small child and continue to re-read them today, I feel a burning need to defend the good professor against this troll's uneducated, inflamatory claims (which, I might note, are posted in the wrong forum). But since he is a troll, I know that to...

The Gates of Hell: Devils for Dicefreaks

I don't have much to say, since I've already added my two cents as Shakhragh on the DF boards... I'll just say again that I think it's pretty awesome and continue to look forward to the next several chapters.

    Doom Guard Conversions?

Yeah, it is... although the zodar is more of a "living construct" a la the warforged from Eberron, even though it doesn't have the subtype. It's originally from one of the 2E Spelljammer Monstrous Compendiums.

What would you like to see in future monster books?

I agree with this 100%. This has been my biggest problem with D&D 3E since I first saw the MM five years ago.

What would you like to see in future monster books?

To which I would add, just because it's a pet peeve: Less creatures whose names consist merely of two words that are supposed to sound "cool" together. For example: vilewight, skybleeder, ethergaunt, hagspawn, swamplight lynx, darksomething whatzit, and so forth. It's just so unoriginal. Also...

    OD&D OD&D Monster Index!

Dinos and Aztecs Heya. For what it's worth, I came across Sons of Azca and The Milenian Empire, OD&D Hollow World accessories, and they have a few original monsters. Sons of Azca: Archelon (giant prehistoric sea turtle) Baluchitherium (giant prehistoric rhino; appears in MMII as...

Acidic hallucigenia from Dragon #204(first conversion)

I like it too... although since hallucinigenia were real creatures, I think that animal or (more likely) vermin is more appropriate than aberration, despite how bizarre they were.

Converting nonhuman deities “Complete Divine” style

Hey! That's awesome! I've been trying forever to find information on these four -- all I ever knew before now were their names. Thanks Alzrius!

Yeah, I don't fancy ripping him off either. Just posting it in case any of it is of some use. Glad to be of some help. :D

Converting nonhuman deities “Complete Divine” style

Actually... I searched through that mailing list's archives and dug up a ton of monster deity write-ups. Some you've probably already seen, but since that other webpage no longer seems to exist (I couldn't find it), I'll post them all here anyway. Giant Pantheon Annam Diancastra Grolantor...

Converting nonhuman deities “Complete Divine” style

Oh! Actually... you know those 2E Faiths & Avatars-style write-ups for monster deities that were on the web, by Tom Rinschler? Here is one he did for Annam. It might prove useful as a source of inspiration or some such.
