    Ptolus: The Legend of Longcoat

Ada winces at Garn's reply. She looks toward the eunuch and motions with her eyes toward the dwarven captain.

Enworld Short Story Smackdown (aka Ceramic DM) - sign-up thread

Thursday's fine. I work Saturday and Sunday, but that's no sweat.

    Shillelagh

It certainly can work on greatclubs. Our barbarian/druid used that to great effect. Until our DM gave him a weapon he liked better (despite doing less damage) and fixed that monster.

    Ptolus: The Legend of Longcoat

Ada looks down to the giant chest she's carrying. "Crap."

    Gnome Hooked Hammer

You think these are jokes. But no, this stuff WILL make it into the game. Mark my words. (By the way, Willie, I used "Mightier Than the Sword" as our intro adventure for a Ptolus City Watch campaign. It went over very well, so thanks.)

Enworld Short Story Smackdown (aka Ceramic DM) - sign-up thread

Huh... Just noticed this thread. If it's still possible to get in as a writer, I'd like to give it a go. I love these writer's harolds... If I'm too late, c'est la vie.

    Ptolus: The Legend of Longcoat

Since Ada was counting, can we get a coin count for Ada to answer Garn?

    Ptolus: The Legend of Longcoat

Ada lists the entire chest and carries it with her as they walk. "Been a good day," she says.

Can an Illusion of Cats Damage a Rat Swarm?

I agree with this, and it's what I went with IMC. Given that the rat swarm was "asked" by a rather evil race of ratmen to attack, they ran as soon as the cats came. They still got some hits in once the fear wore of, so it was more "buying time" rather than defeating them outright. Plus, I agree...

    Ptolus: The Legend of Longcoat

"Bottle's there," Ada points to the empty one that contained the potion. "We can fill it with liquor if you like. Hells, I'll buy you one." She says, lifting up some of the coins, which she has been counting. "So we're done here right?"

    Good Crime Dungeon adventures?

As I said, the first adventure I ran was "Mightier Than the Sword". Basically, a penmaker in the South Market was murdered, supposedly for his invention of a typewriter, and it's caused riots in the Guildsman Districts (The Ironworkers wanted rights to make it, The Masons wanted it not to happen...

Ptolus: Midwood - "The Dark Waters of Moss Pond"

I'm fully aware of how geeky this is: writing fan-fic about our own characters. Still, given the fact that all the PC's grew up together, it seemed obvious. And Renraw's player and I have put a great deal of thought into our PC's family backgrounds and history. In fact, Renraw's player has put...

    Good Crime Dungeon adventures?

heh. Many of us are on the same page. Cool. "Mightier Than the Sword" was the first adventure I ran, with some adaptations. The penmaker ended up making a typewriter instead of a fountain pen, which multiple guilds and the technologist fascist group (the Shuul) ended up being major protagonists...

    Good Crime Dungeon adventures?

Just figured I'd poll the breadth of knowledge of ENWorld for this. (And some of my players may want to... stop reading if I decide to use any of these...) I'm running a police procedural campaign set in Ptolus. Most of the PC's are members of the City Watch, with some "specialists" brought in...

Can an Illusion of Cats Damage a Rat Swarm?

Here's a thought I had reading these over. So figments can't do damage correct? How about treat is a Cause Fear spell? Rats scatter and turn tail for the affected rounds as a horde of illusionary cats chase them? Is that more palatable?

Can an Illusion of Cats Damage a Rat Swarm?

I am very lucky (and cursed) to have players who think outside of the box when it comes to spells. The situation: a rat swarm is barreling down on the PC's. The Illusionist's solution? To cast a Minor Image of a swarm of yowling cats chasing after the rats. So what do you think? If the swarm...

Ptolus: Midwood - "The Dark Waters of Moss Pond"

Jecture is also Kat's school, after he was suspended for breaking into professor's offices to read over their journals. School has obviously... taken a detour now...

    Ptolus: The Legend of Longcoat

"Better," Ada snorts. She turns to the chest. "Now. We have some actual rewards coming from all of this. Anyone have a guess as to the flasks?"

    Ptolus: The Legend of Longcoat

Ada ignores everything else around her and smashes Longcoat's skull in with her club. And then she takes the club to each limb for good measure. She'll watch the body carefully for any more signs of healing.
