Does anybody use Master Maze for their gaming?

I have lots of MM sets (Dagger 75's roommate is a dabbler in comparison). They are gorgeous. They can be a pain to set up -- but if you give your players a sketch on paper and let them build it, then they have the fun of putting it together rather than waiting around for you to do it. If you use...

    Northern Crown?

Thanks, I really like my mission-web format and will definitely use it as a template for more adventures. For those of you who don't know what Michael and I are talking about, The Onondaga Mission presents the PCs with up to five (IIRC) discrete missions that can be achieved in almost any order...

    Northern Crown?

I'm still working on the Boston book. In the meantime, you might enjoy the full-length Northern Crown adventure The Onondaga Mission in the current issue of Franklyn's Almanack. Your previous post warmed my heart.

Victorian D20 -- What would you like to see?

A guide to London c. 1850 would be immensely helpful. An arms and equipment guide. An "Everyone Else"-style NPC book for every Victorian occupation from mudlarks to peelers to private detectives. I would love to write for this series. Curse your tempting ways!

    Adamant releases 100th Product-- Franklyn's Almanack #2

I'm honored to have contributed to the 100th Adamant Entertainment product. It's a collector's item that no one should be without ;)

Do you get bored of the wilderness treck?

For years I have designed wilderness areas as big dungeons, with discrete zones or areas each populated by one or two planned encounters or challenges that require skill checks or some RPing with the local NPCs. I NEVER use random encounters in wilderness travel. The idea that dungeons are...

    The 3.0 Sohei....

In my game world, we have dwarven sohei who guard the sacred forges of the dwarven patriarchs. We had a sohei PC who got to level 13 or so -- IIRC it was a fun class to play, with no obvious flaws.

Northern Crown - Did it go anywhere

If anyone knows the whereabouts of this game, please contact the author. ;) I can't speak to who's playing it, although I do get emails from time to time from Northern Crown players. It's an odd sensation seeing your work go out and not being able to track it. There is ongoing PDF support...

    Franklyn's Almanack #2?

So what will be in FA #2? The centerpiece is a full-length adventure called The Onondaga Mission, with copious maps and lots of statted NPCs. There's also the first in a series of articles about cults and secret societies of Northern Crown.

    Are you a Grognard?

Oui, je suis un grognard. DGUTS, Tractics, PanzerBlitz, Squad Leader, Chainmail, all before I heard about this game called "D&D" at a wargaming convention. That was 1977.

Did You Every Play Empire of the Petal Throne?

I still have my boxed set with the beautiful vinyl maps. Sadly, I was never able to DM it successfully, because my players were put off by the unfamiliarity of the setting, and I couldn't keep all those races, cultures, and monsters straight in my mind. Maybe if MAR Barker had come with every...

    Northern Crown

I'm writing as fast as I can! Seriously, the second issue of Franklyn's Almanack (the NC support PDF zine from Adamant Entertainment) is coming out any day now. I turned it in to Gareth a couple of weeks ago. It contains an article on Le Dragon Rouge by Brian Gute and a full-length adventure by...

    Favorite Character...

Three characters come to mind... Kefl, my 21st level human barbarian/rogue, who rose to become a chieftain of his people and the chosen champion of the witches who dwell in the nearby mountains. His hastiness, bad temper, and irresponsible streak make him fascinating to play. Captain Sir John...

Decent 12th Level Beer 'n' Prestzels adventure needed!

"The Blackguard's Revenge", one of Goodman Games' Dungeon Crawl Classics, definitely fills the beer and pretzels requirement, and it's geared for 10th-12th level. I've DM'd it and found it good fun (as well as several other modules in the DCC series).

Affect of a 3,000ft cliff on the landscape

If the prevailing winds hit the base of the cliff and are forced upslope, and the winds are moist, you would see the effects of orographic lifting: the air cools, the water vapor within it reaches the condensation point, and you get clouds and rain. On the far (lee) side of the cliff, the air...

An obligatory (?) 'Why no Narnia RPG?" thread

My Narnia-related two cents: My best pal when I was a kid was the son of a successful board game designer -- I'm talking Pay Day, Bonkers, and other games that were played by tons of 70s kids here in the States. He was also a big Narnia fan, and managed to secure the game rights from the...
