    D&D's Future ?

I agree that we don't need to tie D&D to other fads, but WotC should be looking for the next generation of smart teenagers...

    D&D's Future ?

Actually, in order to make D&D hip again, I would go the Apple route and use the advertisement budget to get some product placement in "hip/geeky" movies and TV shows like The Big Bang Theory. Anybody remember that scene where Eliott's brother and buddies were playing D&D near the begining of...

    Metric & Markets

Here in Mexico, we got taught Mayan numerals (base 20) along with Roman numerals in school... While I can understand the fact that they are probably better than arabic (and far better than roman) when it comes to doing large calculations, I used to have nightmares about them when I was a kid...

    So, about Expertise...

I know the plural of anecdote is not data, but I have seen all three situations described above happen in a D&D game. I accept that I have only seen #3 happen once, but I have had PCs having romantic sidequests at least once per campaign (initiated by the players themselves). I once even had two...

    So, about Expertise...

100% Agreed, which is why I suggested that the best way to fix this feat would be not to ban it or to give it automatically to everybody. Instead, limit it to characters with less than 17 in their primary attribute in heroic (20 in paragon and 22 in epic). That way, you allow a "non-optimized"...

    So, about Expertise...

How about restricting the feat to characters that have less than 17 in their primary attribute (in heroic, maybe less than 20 in paragon and less than 22 in epic)? That way, we can give this feat to the odd build with MAD so that they are not left behind?

Is Aegis of Assault the worst mark?

Aegis of Assault is what the Paladin's Challenge was before it was fixed "Mark and then Run away" was wrong for Paladins, but ok for Swordmages

    About Reveille

I suspected, but decided to take it at face value. Well, hindsight is 20/20 they say... Anyway, I just want to say that I am proud to be part of a community that cares and worries about its members this way. Good night!

    RE: Reveille

Get well soon... I had been away from Enworld for a few days and therefore I just found out about Rev's condition. My prayers are with you for a full and speedy recovery. Hopefully, the fact that he's mumbling game terms means that his brain is recovering

    Who Started Playing D&D Indirectly?

I was a huge fan of NES titles like Zelda, Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior and Willow. Once, I met a guy through a mutual friend and while I was explaining how the Shadowgate game worked, he smiled and said "Hah, thats exactly how the Dungeons and Dragons game works!" I first thought he was...

    Prone movement limitations

It's in the PHB Errata: Prone [Addition] Player’s Handbook, page 277 Add “You can’t move from your space, although you can teleport, crawl, or be forced to move by a pull, a push, or a slide.”

Parties and cultures with one dominant power source.

A friend of mine ended up with an All-Arcane party by accident. He invited a group of people to play, with him as DM, he sent a quick explanation (via email) of the races and classes, and he ended up with an Artificer, a Swordmage, a Warlock and a Wizard ...he quickly modified his adventure to...

    Warlord - punished for sacraficing

I fervently hope that the 4E bard is as good as the Warlord Let's remember that "self-buffing til it was a better Fighter than the Fighter" was what made the 3E Cleric into an unbalanced mess

Playing characters of the opposite gender

Some 10-15 years ago, I banned players from creating characters of the opposite gender. At that point I'd had too many nerdy guys badly playing slutty elfs. Nowadays, I play with adults my own age and we feel a lot more confident about both our roleplaying abilities and the maturity of the...

6 months later: impressions of 4e

Apparently Jan van Leyden and me have independently arrived to the same solution to the "grind problem", which is to to identify the precise moment when an encounter is "over" and just end it. When all the minions are gone, the artillery is dead and the remaining monsters no longer pose a...

wizard of the spiraling out of control

Sorry about the handle/strap confusion, English is not my first language. I stand corrected about the RAW thing, and I will do some homework about the Real Life thing (I practice some European Martial Arts, but only with rapier/buckler/dagger and I have no expertise about bigger shields)
