[D20 Modern] The T.A.R.D.I.S. Campaign, aka "The Kitchen Sink Project"

Hey all. Things are going pretty well in Cashel World. My wife and I are working on a garden, some other home projects, and expecting our first baby in December! (The child's 'working title' is Skeletor.) But best of all (well, second-best of all), we've got a weekly game night up and running...

    Hellboy cthulhu

Persistent rumors abound that "At the Mountains of Madness" is in development by Guillermo del Toro. Man, I'd love to see that happen.

    Criterion? who/what are/is they/it? and what's the point?

I'll add to Rackhir's post a quote from Criterion's site: There you have it! Recently a friend of mine, when told that my wife was getting sick of the expensive DVD purchases, asked, "Do we need to have a Criterion intervention?" Considering that Criterion editions of Videodrome and Slacker...

That huge red font is hilarious.

    Is ENWorld getting less friendly?

Hey! I resemble that remark! :uhoh:

Very cool images from Star Wars Ep. III

    Yeah? You and what army?

    EnWorld- The Professional Society

Yeah, and despite all the money contributed to EN World, the site is as slow as its ever been. Like molasses, even. I'd be pissed if I had sent money. So is this plan going to work out, um...better?

    Reinventing Roleplaying Games

Does this reinvention involve any concrete suggestions, or just metaphorical claptrap like "let's use this turbine to power a jet, not a biplane"?

    Enterprise 05-26-04

I liked the ep, and I liked the ending. It's impossible to tell whether they're in the past or in an alternate present, but I'm a sucker for time travel whenever and however it appears.

My Paladin killed a child molester (and now my DM wants to take away my powers!)

Swift and chaotic, but not lawful, good, or merciful. Mercy implies forgiveness.

My Paladin killed a child molester (and now my DM wants to take away my powers!)

That's just fine! The question is, does the paladin burn down the county seat after trapping all the councilmembers inside...or does he submit to their "law" only for the purpose of speaking his god's will? Does he try to make them see his point of view, or does he poison the water supply...

My Paladin killed a child molester (and now my DM wants to take away my powers!)

In medieval parlance, "murder" is defined as stealthy killing, assassination, that kind of thing. If you killed someone in open, "honorable" combat, it wasn't murder...it was just death. It's not lawful or good to hack down a defenseless man from behind, no matter what he's doing or has done...

Hayden Christiansen being added to Return of the Jedi DVD

I don't sweat the changes either. I just figure now that I've seen Star Wars about 400 times, it'll be nice to have a few surprises in there.

    Memorable movie speeches.

I'm gonna cheat and put in this exchange from The Big Lebowski: LEBOWSKI Where's my goddamn money, you bum?! DUDE Well, well we--I, I, I don't-- LEBOWSKI They did not receive the money, you nitwit! They did not receive the money! HER LIFE WAS IN YOUR HANDS! BRANDT This is our concern, Dude...

    24 Finale SPOILERS! Nina's Back!

I thought it was terrible. First they say the station is "locked down," and then we find out that despite the lockable gates in all subway stations..."locked down" means two cops standing in front of an open, functioning escalator. Stoopid. The previous episode, where CTU's computers were...

    Enterprise 05-26-04

Looking forward to tonight's episode... I think it'll be good, but I'm worried. Star Trek is always better at the set-up than the resolution.

    Why RPGs are Failing

Actually, the thread title maintains (rather alarmingly) that "RPGs" are failing. All of them! (This is news to me, seeing as my Cthulhu game is going strong.) But reference is made to only one RPG, D&D (and always with a snarky Registered Trademark symbol attached to it). Seems to me that...

Is "psionic" an accepted word in standard English?

psi is the 23rd letter of the Greek alphabet (Hail Eris!), and also "parapsychological psychic phenomena or powers," according to Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (10th ed.).

    Why RPGs are Failing

What exactly is the difference between these concepts? Can you clearly enumerate the ways they are different? (This thread reminds me of the Forge, starring Mythusmage as Ron Edwards. Enlighten us, oh demogogue!)
