    How will PC's make money in your world

    My campaign for 4e has changed like 3 times this week, so I'm not sure. My players have also gotten sensitive to anything they perceive as railroading, so I want their input. I expect that most of it will come through adventuring (rewards/bounties/contract payment and discovered/looted treasure...

    Do you think you will play on DDI?

    Almost definately. I have to see the finished product to be certain though. I only game with my table, face to face, bi-weekly due to families and distances. If we adopt the VTT we are looking at running our off-weeks online, or maybe running completely online every week and taking one week a...

    DDI play and RPGA

    My intention, should the virtual table top live up to expectations, is to drastically reduce my MMO time (which I play as it is the closest thing to role playing I can get most of the time) and get involved with multiple virtual table groups. My bi-weekly game might go weekly, with off-weeks...

    It's No Longer A Joke

    I like the fact that the game ends, and gives a certain amount of closure to players. I design campaigns all the time (for all sorts of role playing games) and we get to the end of the planned campaign, hit the climax, play out the victory, and deal with the aftermath... and then my players...

    Monk = __________ Striker

    You are obviously entitled to your opinion and your individual campaign should definately incorporate only the elements that you feel fit. Psionics have been a part of D&D for a long, long time and I've always been fond of them to some degree. Dark Sun drove it home for me, as it was an example...

    Monk = __________ Striker

    Psionic Striker. It is much less focused than the soulknife (possibly a paragon path?) and I think the whole "mind over body" concept really fits both the general concept of a monk and the psionic power source. I'd be alright with Divine too. I think Ki is adequitely covered by a number of...

    pawsplay's dealbreaker list

    I'm likely too deep in this thread for the OP to notice and I certainly don't think I can change your opinion. I would urge you to play a few sessions, as I think (having been on the fence a little myself prior to DDXP) a lot of the perceived flaws of the game simply don't come up at the table...

    Atypical Clerics and Wizards who like versatility

    The sample cleric from the demos was almost entirely ranged. No need to ever wade into melee IIRC. Heals were ranged for the cleric.

    D&D 4E 4e - Crafting mundane items.

    I thought it was mentioned in an interview that they were looking at maybe implementing a "crafting system" in a later book. Some took that to mean crafting magic items specifically, but I immediately thought MMO weapon/armor crafting when I read it.

    Do you think there will be double weapons?

    I agree that if two weapon fighting is in, it won't be hard to allow a two handed weapon that should reasonablly be useable as if it were two weapons as such. I'd rather not see an emphasis on all manner of double weapons but I liked the idea for the staff, and I was fond of the spiked chain...

    Down to At-Wills

    True. First level 4e characters cannot do this.

    Excerpt: Multiclassing (merged)

    I'll probably lift the two class maximum to three in my game, although I'll run the game as written first. I like this in general. It lets you dabble in another class, and provides lots of interesting combos. I thought I saw somewhere that you could choose to take secondary class powers instead...

    Neceros' Landscape Character Record Sheet

    I love looking at other people's sheets for inspiration, but I tend to draw my own up in Adobe InDesign when I am learning a new system. It's part of my "process" to learning a new system and makes me very familiar with where everything is on the sheet for easy reference when helping a lost...

    The "H" Series

    The fact that these come with tactical encounter maps is a *huge* selling point for me, as I don't know if I want to invest in tiles and I've recently been debating getting a new game mat or building my own variation of tact-tiles. Having the maps for the virtual table top will be a selling...

    What makes a bard a bard?

    I dunno that bard has ever been a class in my mind. Even the better attempts, such as Monte's, did little for me. Maybe it just seems too specific to me. At the best it is an NPC class in my mind, or a 'profession' that a character of any class might pick up.

    Bloat already?

    There are different kinds of games. There are classless games where you can build a character up, mixing and matching pieces, to create the character you conceive. There are games with many specific classes. D&D has been one of these for a long time. If you consider that "bloat" then yes, 4E...

    'Dungeons & Dragons' fights for its future

    It's not horrible but I dislike any comparison of online games to tabletop games, or any inferrence that one is replacing the other. I do both and so do most of the gamers I know. They are two different experiences and I wouldn't want to stop doing either.

    Poll - For those who Played - How was it?

    I voted 4. I still have some issues with the design philosophies, and I think they will stay issues for me when running the game. From a perspective of play... I had a good time. I see some real potential for some of the new mechanics.

    Aristotle's D&D Experience

    That's entirely possible. I tried to point out where my own play style allows for a positive spin on something that others might consider negative. I do have some real gripes, but more with the structure of products and the design process than with actual game play. for instance... I'm...

    Aristotle's D&D Experience

    I'm not going to go into strict detail or a drawn out review. There isn't much chance that I'm going to scoop anything that you haven't already heard. This is more about giving what I feel is a quick, but fair, review of my 4E experience. I'll note before I start that I've generally liked, or at...
