    Preview: The Sorcerer

I was really, really, really looking forward to another controller. :( That being said, this looks fine. Le sigh.

DDI, 6 months later: changing my mind

If I remember correctly, the guy who developed the monster builder said it was just a fun little utility that they won't be adding onto. But with all the love in this thread, and the fact that it's mentioned as one of the top apps of DDI, maybe they should listen in and update it to make Solos...

Shamans have a Spirit Companion - From Dungeoncraft

Sure. If we believe that dwarves love gold and are utterly stupid, sure. "Har, here's an animal to help guide me on my journey towards personal enlightenment and heroic deeds! He represents the fury of my connection to the primal spirits, and will aid my friends in need! I'LL CALL HIM...

    D&D 4E 4E updates/errata posted today 1/20/2009

My LFR Barbarian would rage over this, but once again he's stuck to 1 rage/day. :( No wonder there's so many Veteran's Armors around. They all thought they were in good armor, and then effin' DIED because of it.

Shamans have a Spirit Companion - From Dungeoncraft

Nugget? Really? We're going with the name "Nugget?" Wow. That'd be my reaction at that table. :D But yeah, a Leader with a spirit companion, I'm looking forward to seeing how that's implemented. One build focused more on healing, and another build focused on attack, I imagine. Are we...

    Street names?

Ashen Alley Winding Way Sorrow Street Rich Man's Road Alliteration is good. Back Alley Road Way Sign Street Off Road Clean Street (in a ghetto) Wordplay is good. The Vein The Eastwest The Race (for a circular road) Soul's Way Diver's Street Drunk's Alley Priest's Walk Hrm.

    Design and Development: Feats

After having played Fallout 3, I really think 4E feats should be called "Perks." Then martial powers could be called Feats, and we could save Exploits for some other power source or, better yet, just not use it at all. Whatever it's called, though, the Feat mechanics in 4E are great. With...

    Warforged/Genasi Origin Stories

"For the 2% of DDI subscribers that might find an article this specific of any use, here's a whole bunch of crap that you probably could have thought up on your own, six minutes before making the character!" Gotta agree with Rechan here, this article brings sand to a beach. Although if you ARE...

    Quick clarification on Beastmaster?

Thank goodness I found this thread. Had some issues come up with my beastmaster ranger a session or two ago. 1. If my beast is dazed, how does that effect its actions? Say that something is dazing my beast. On my turn, I move to an enemy, allowing my beast to also move adjacent to the...

    Playing Dhampyr

That would be simply awesome, and one would think completely do-able. The PHB2 won't need nearly as long of a section for combat rules (maybe some variants or new rules, but nothing huge), which leaves plenty of space for stuff like this...one would hope! I'm a big fan of bloodlines being done...

Leaders, which is the most interesting?

So here's the deal. I hate Clerics, and I love Warlords. So I'm gonna tell you to play a Warlord. Ultimately, though, I've found that the choice of Leader is influenced quite a bit by the Defender(s) found in the party. A Fighter benefits from a Warlord quite a bit, because Commander's...

Correct me if I'm wrong: Paladin Marks

The Adventurer's Vault. Might be called "Throwing Shield" instead, I don't know for sure.

    Dragon 371 Table of Contents

Myconids aren't "niche" enough for me. If WotC doesn't scrap the Dhampyr article and release a playable race of vampiric fungi that look like elves but can TELEPORT, well, psh. They just lost MY business. I do remember seeing that playable myconid 4E race a long time ago...they had some kind...

Why do you keep playing 4e?

Oh, another thing I love about 4E: the balance in races is the best I've ever seen. Hopefully the PHB2 will hold that trend. With this system, I'm confident it can.

    League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Heh, not too shabby. I think their vehicle should be Stephen King's Christine, kept in check by a remote-detonation bomb hidden somewhere in her evil, evil belly.

Correct me if I'm wrong: Paladin Marks

If it's a strength-based paladin, might want to look into getting a Shield of Throwing. We had a Paladin that almost never lost his mark while wielding that shield!

Why do you keep playing 4e?

But negative sediment is the bedrock of any good nerdy forum. Otherwise things grow shale. I'll stop there. :)

Why do you keep playing 4e?

Darn right, this is the first game I've ever been REALLY excited to prepare for, let alone run. It's also fun to see how power choice and character development play out in interesting, unique ways...on the battlefield AND off. Forming strategies is definitely team-oriented, with everyone...

Correct me if I'm wrong: Paladin Marks

Well, I suck at reading comprehension. "You must engage the target you challenged..." Thanks for clearing that up, that'll teach me to act like I know what I'm doin'. :)

    hexblade 2 worth it?

Hexblade 4, baby! Go for the fourth level and pick up the Dark Companion alternate class feature from the PHB2. It is EPIC in its awesomeness, easily my favorite class feature of 3.5, ever. Or not, but a floating -2 to AC and Saves is crazy good, even if it'll be dispelled now and then at...
