Pathfinder 1E Elephant in the room/thread Forked Thread: Pathfinder - sell me

Thanks for weighing in, James! The inability to change the basic definitions/descriptions of monsters certainly would hinder the je ne sais quoi that Paizo has when it comes to campaign and adventure design.

    MM II Identity Parade

Yeah, but this three-act story structure is ingrained in most of us from the beginning of formal education, to the point that when we're at the age we might pick up D&D for a spin, it's intuitive. Along with stuff like Sphynx's doing riddles and what-not. I don't need my MM or my DMG to go...

Pathfinder 1E Elephant in the room/thread Forked Thread: Pathfinder - sell me

Yeah, them Warlords are just ruining the game. Name not appropriate...maybe you haven't looked at the name Fighter? Every class in the game FIGHTS. They're being undermined by the Fighter's mere existence! Any character played to be a complete jerk will negatively impact the game. This is...

    MM II Identity Parade

I'd say because situations that don't involve killing things are so incredibly diverse and up to the DM's imagination and storytelling, that the less guidelines or rules given, the better. Combat, on the other hand, needs rules, and is also a reason that many, MANY people play D&D in the first...

    MM II Identity Parade

I found a link to something that might be up your alley, check it out! It's by a pretty small company, though, but they give hints and tips as to how to throw pretty much any creature into a fun campaign.

    Tell us about yourself...

Ain't nothing wrong with doing a victory lap as an undergrad. Unfortunately, I misclicked. Now I feel I'm slighting my own education.

[Forked Thread: How Important is Magic..?] 5 things you need to know

Nah, those kids already seem to be pretty big into geek-dom. How about we round up some of those Amish teens on their Rumspringa and see how it goes.

How Important is Magic to Dungeons and Dragons? - Third Edition vs Fourth Edition

I can't seem to find your case for it, other than "If Robin Hood could do that unerringly, it must be magic." Either way, though, we're probably going to disagree. We have very different opinions on what constitutes magic in D&D (and its various editions), and if we haven't agreed so far...(shrug)

[Forked Thread: How Important is Magic..?] 5 things you need to know

I figured the whole At-Will, Encounter, and Daily Power thing just seems to be more intuitive out-of-box than the concept of spell slots, iterative attacks, etc. I could be wrong. What we need is some 13-year old kids, a case of JOLT Cola, and a lab to do some studies, I suppose.

[Forked Thread: How Important is Magic..?] 5 things you need to know

And yet it still feels like D&D to me! Guess I'm just lucky. And yeah, gosh, "Feywild" REALLY removes the feel of D&D. BAB, AC, THACO, HP, the concept of LEVELS, item "slots," standard action/move action/swift action/free action, domain names, spell names, Full Attack, Skill Ranks...

Pathfinder 1E Interview with PATHFINDER lead designer Jason Bulmahn

Pish posh. I saw a woman once while on expedition. It stared at me with deep, understanding eyes, and then fled back into the forests of the Pacific northwest. They call me a liar, and a madman, but I saw the thing.

My mother manages to make the tastiest meatloaf in the world whenever she cooks it. MAGIC, ladies and gentlemen.

Odd definition of proof you have there. Some people like that kind of depth in a game system, some don't. No "flaw" about it.

How Important is Magic to Dungeons and Dragons? - Third Edition vs Fourth Edition

's not a case, 's an opinion. Make your case for it, just like we've been making cases for CaGI. We'll still disagree, because it all comes back to personal preference and opinion. You can use terms like "common parlance" and dive deep into the wonderful world of logic and systems, but in the...

WotC: Character Builder's effect on Third Party Publishers

The problem with including some kind of file with your 3PP publication is that it can be spread around the Internet much easier than a .pdf, even. You're basically giving the crunch of your supplement for free. Now, if 3PP could pay a certain fee to get their stuff included in the CB? Hrm.

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder is done!

Pathfinder all finished, good stuff comin' from Wizards, GR getting a new license, it's shaping up to be a good summer for the industry! :)

Anything that's good for GR is good for our industry, so yay! :) Unfortunately, anything that EA touches turns to...well. Turns to SOMETHING. So right now, I'll consider this a wash. If anything, this thread made me go to the Dragon Age website. The little video they showed didn't have a...
