Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles Episode #1

*Spoiler Warning* I wasn't watching too closely. Was there any explanation saying that all that future technology in the bank vault was destroyed beyond recovery? Leaving terminator parts and a time machine in 1999 is a real good way to insure Skynet gets built.

New SRD => No useful searchable document?

The 4E OGL sounds like it will be closer to the d20 license. It looks like WotC wants third parties to publish settings, modules, and supplements for D&D rather than stand-alone games. They are offering an electronic version of the rulebooks for a small fee after purchasing the paper form of...

    The return of Valiant Comics!?

According to wikipedia the rights to Solar and Magnus are held by Random House. The rights to Turok seem to be held by a company called Classic Media.

I'm a Mammal and So Are You!

Who says they are descended from dragons? The Dragonborn's own creation myth in R&C has them being created at the same time as dragons by the god Io. In a fantasy setting, it is quite possible for a creature to have characteristics from multiple non-related species thanks to a little thing...

The Tielfling and The Gnome: On the Set of 4th edition

    Best D&D movie ever.

    Dragonborn: Boobs or No Boobs?

The female Dragonborn from R&C has a feminine outline and boobs. She is still very reptilian. The females have cheek frills like the males, but the one pictured doesn't have the beard-like chin frill the males have. They appear to only lay one egg on average, as R&C talks about child in the...

    For the first time... apprehension

All of those games are heavily based on that century of fantasy literature and on D&D itself. So even if 4e D&D is basing itself on MMORPG's, which I don't believe it is, it is still true to its roots. D&D has always had multiple fantasy influences. The Tolkien inspirations were mainly the...

Why do people tag Heinlein as a . . .

Starship Troopers is one of Heinlein's best known works. I suspect that the movies and TV series have moved it into mainstream culture more than any of his other works. It's possible that Stranger in a Strange Land is better known, and it was almost definitely the more well known of the two in...

D&D 4E Call a kender a kender? What should 4E "halflings" be called?

I prefer the term Halfling, and want them and Kender kept seperate. I don't mind them becoming similar in nature as long as Halflings don't become fearless kleptomaniacs. Kender is too close to kinder for my taste. It would feel about the same as calling them kidlings to me.

Why do people tag Heinlein as a . . .

Heinlein is best know for Starship Troopers. The government in that book isn't fascist, but is militaristic and denies citizenship rights to people who have not done government service. Many people use the term fascist to describe anyone or anything they consider to be too...

Dragonborn - will you ban them?

Dragonborn and Tieflings will be in my 4th ed campaigns. I'll be starting a new homebrew once 4th ed comes out, so no need to try to shoehorn them into an existing game. Dragonmen have been in D&D since the draconians of Dragonlance, and probably before. They don't show up in the majority of...

    Beowulf

Except that Rebecca Romijn was actually covered by prosthetics/costume that change her form. The CGI Jolie was just naked with a gold skin color rather than flesh. It also doesn't account for Beowulf being naked for a several minute fight. I know brief male nudity gets a complete pass by the...

    Beowulf

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. It made major changes to the story, but it still felt like an epic tale. The CGI was very good as well. My only concern is that this movie somehow got rated PG-13. Probably because it's animated. It is definitely well into the R level of violence, blood...

    RANT: Dam Spell Chequers!

Magazines, newspapers, and even novels are often full of spelling and grammar errors. I've even picked up a few novels missing entire passages of text. Another novel had sections formatted to look like a computer file in which the letter f and any letter following it in a word were...

Its a Small World is going to be CLOSED!

The Smurf ride was an even more annoying Hanna Barbera boat ride first. Then it became a generic haunted house, and is now a Scooby Doo haunted house. Still a good summer ride for the AC, but you can always go to the Fest Haus to cool off.

    Ghost Hunters Live

Actually I can't think of an episode where a child was being physically harmed. There was one in which a little girl was being bothered at night. They set up a camera and discovered that it was her restless little brother. He would try to wake her up in the middle of the night, but it took...

    Ghost Hunters Live

Ghost Hunters is definitely better condensed down to when things actually happen. Six hours is a long time to watch for a few minutes of action. Reminds me of baseball.

    JK Rowling reveals Hogwarts secret

My experience is the opposite. Every adult I know who is a Harry Potter fan reads quite a bit of fantasy fiction.
