    Pf2e pol: initial thoughts

That's a rather limited selection of choices.

It’s LAUNCH DAY For The Pathfinder 2 Playtest!

I just remembered something else that I thought didn't work right. I suspect its more a matter of DM mistake than a rules problem. We had entered the first room and folks were looking around. There were bones present, and something about the way the DM described them made me think they had been...

It’s LAUNCH DAY For The Pathfinder 2 Playtest!

Hanging out with friends is always fun. The game? I would say I was just as happy throwing dice and moving pieces as I would have been with any other RPG. I would have been equally happy with D&D 1e, 2e, 3/3.5e, or PF1e. I've only played D&D 5e once, but it would probably fine too. Hehe...

It’s LAUNCH DAY For The Pathfinder 2 Playtest!

The DM had a few available, but the Playtest requires you to level up your characters at a couple of points, so we wanted them in Hero Lab Online.

    PF2E POLL

I had some similar thoughts a few days ago. I like to look at skills in the context of Guild Membership, so I was contemplating alternative labels. Untrained = Untrained Trained = Apprentice Expert = Journeyman Master = Master Legendary = Grand Master And then I was thinking the bonuses needed...

It’s LAUNCH DAY For The Pathfinder 2 Playtest!

I played for the first time last night. We had a mix of players who had made characters and those who had not. Those who made characters needed 2 hours to complete them using Hero Lab Online and getting advice from those who had already been through it. My first character had taken me over 2...

It’s LAUNCH DAY For The Pathfinder 2 Playtest!

I've made around 15 characters and I play for the first time tonight. I can say from experience that I don't like PF2e character generation, but I really think I'm going to like the action sequence.

    Home Made D&D Edition

I occasionally go through this exercise on my walk home from work. Lately, I've been thinking my ideal homebrew D&D game would involve a "build your own class" system. If I'm making classes, I tend to end up with class abilities in a spreadsheet and a resulting score. Some of my players would...

Pathfinder 2E Are their simple options?

I've made around 15 characters and I found there were some Feats that just added simple numbers to characters. Fleet, for instance, adds 5 move. But there are a great many Feats with conditionals built into them. Your mind gets quite a workout if you try to estimate the relative value of each...

It’s LAUNCH DAY For The Pathfinder 2 Playtest!

If your character concept is to be an Archer, the first choice you would face is picking which class to build upon. If the Feats you think best implement that concept are scattered across 2-3 classes then you have to try and map a viable path to all of them. Regardless of the mechanics, its a...

It’s LAUNCH DAY For The Pathfinder 2 Playtest!

Everyone's got their own perspectives. Admittedly, I've only been kicking the tires for about 2 hours, but so far it feels like D&D 3.5 => D&D 4.0 to me. My first attempt to make a character resulted in a Ranger that didn't feel like a Ranger. Part of that may be that I'm angling it into some...

Pathfinder 2E The playtest is here!!

It's not too late. They can still say "April Fools!" ;)

Pathfinder 2E The playtest is here!!

Ah, no problem. We're all muddling through the crumbs. I forgot about the scaling, that could make it meaningful. Unlocking future potential isn't really worth anything to me. The value of the Feat has to stand alone, otherwise you get silly Feat chains that folks will refer to as a "Feat Tax."

Pathfinder 2E The playtest is here!!

Various comments on the Paizo board talk about getting to where you can cast 8th level spells. I don't see how the Feats listed get you there. Maybe we just haven't been shown that detail?

Pathfinder 2E The playtest is here!!

Did I misread the blog? I thought it took another feat to get the level 1-3 spells. I'm looking at it now and it looks like... Wizard Dedication (INT 16 Req.) == 2 Cantrips per day Basic Wizard Spellcasting == What you describe. What don't I understand? What am I missing?

Pathfinder 2E The playtest is here!!

Don't forget the Ability Score Prerequisite. You need an INT 16 to pick up two cantrips per day.

Pathfinder 2E The playtest is here!!

It looks like I'll get an opportunity to try it out. Of the three PF1 games I've been involved with, one is staying PF1, one looks to be going to try 5e, and the last will try the PF2 playtest.

Pathfinder 2E Multiclassing unveiled... through archetypes.

Is this how Rangers get their spells back, or is that handled through some other mechanic?

Pathfinder 2's Sorcerer Goes "All In" On Bloodlines

In thinking about the Sorcerer's ability to pick their spell list and spit-balling with some friends, I started wondering if Wizard, Cleric and Druid should be able to do that too, then differential those classes in other ways. Clerics wear armor, Druids change shape or have a pet, Wizards do...
