Pathfinder 2's Armor & A Preview of the Paladin!

I've always thought this way too, but it isn't the majority opinion in an alignment discussion. Yes, to me, it always seemed that if I were going to require an alignment for a Paladin, that NG seemed like the obvious choice.

Pathfinder 2's Armor & A Preview of the Paladin!

And, of course, another variation on your "Alignment is Mortal" category... Gods are only legends, they don't really exist. "Divine" powers are really just slightly different "Arcane" powers. Religions exist, but they are entirely creations of man based on a combination of ignorance of the vast...

Pathfinder 2's Armor & A Preview of the Paladin!

Certainly there are many who share your opinion, and I respect it.

Pathfinder 2's Armor & A Preview of the Paladin!

The notion of letting NPCs handle in-game codes is that those NPCs don't have the ability to remove character class abilities. The equivalent would be that your employer cannot strip you of your work skills. The Catholic church can excommunicate you, but they cannot take away your ability to...

Pathfinder 2's Armor & A Preview of the Paladin!

I'm with you that far. And then we diverge. The previous pages, plus the endless debate being mirrored on the Paizo site, and decades of in-game debate, and... well I'm of the opinion that codes implemented in the rules of the game are as equally worthless as alignment. Let in-game NPC...

Pathfinder 2's Armor & A Preview of the Paladin!

I look for something that identifies who made the bridge. Clearly they're a very talented engineer with a diabolical mind. They could kill dozens. They're the greater evil. By the way, screw my Paladinhood. I never could understand the code anyways. It's a fighter's life for me. :)

[PF2] What will be the release schedule of PF2

I thought the plan was to playtest for six months starting around this July then release at the 2019 GenCon amid great anticipation, grand fanfare, and accolades for all. I have no idea what their plans are for supporting releases over the following year, nor what the advantages/disadvantages...

Pathfinder 2's Armor & A Preview of the Paladin!

The best part about Paladin codes, anathema, and alignment restrictions is that they can be easily ignored or house-ruled without messing up anything else.

Let's Take A Look At Pathfinder 2's Deities & Domains!

I'll admit that emotional part of me internally is saying "What about meeeee? If you're going to make a new game, why not make one I want?" And the reasoned part of me is saying "I'm happy somebody will be getting something they want, but what's the best direction for me to go? I'd appreciate...

Let's Take A Look At Pathfinder 2's Deities & Domains!

Or, perhaps "I'm in the market for rules that could be used as a toolkit to implement my homebrew game." Why isn't that perspective serious? I think everyone gets that Paizo has reasons for integrating their game with their world. But consumers make choices based on their needs.

    RPG for Simulation

Oh, okay. I'll have to get a copy then. I've never really looked at it, assuming it was just joke-D&D rules.

    RPG for Simulation

Not to disagree, but to possibly redirect. Technically, Hero Lab does allow me to make this happen. Unfortunately, it involves a really significant ramp-up time in my developing the skills to make intricate changes to the Hero Lab Pathfinder scripts. Its arguably simpler for me to make my own...

    RPG for Simulation

I have looked back at D&D 1e/2e and it would be viable and a homecoming of sorts. It was easy to modify and the levels basically flat-lined after 10th, which is kind of appealing. But for my players, the D&D 3e/3.5e melee math would be desirable instead of THACO. Plus with D&D 3e/3.5e I get...

Let's Look At Pathfinder 2's Weapons!

In PF1e I would have said "Yes, the Improvised Weapon." :)

    RPG for Simulation

The original post wasn't so much related to solving a problem or making a choice, but to see if there were a system out there of which I was not familiar. The dominant fantasy RPGs all seem to be converging on a superheroic level, where the PCs outclass the common man and approach godhood. But...

    RPG for Simulation

I played Pendragon quite a bit back in the day. I wouldn't say it was close to a Medieval simulation, but it did capture the Arthurian feel. I've not played RuneQuest very much and don't really remember it. I'll have to reacquaint myself with it. So you're probably right with the '80s note, but...

Let's Look At Pathfinder 2's Weapons!

My friends and I got into Champions 1e when we were in 8th grade, right around the time it was released. We were learning algebra and this game fit right in. That aside, age isn't really a factor in games and wargames. There's a 60-something year old person at the table who has constant trouble...

    RPG for Simulation

I have both the original version and a newer version of C&S. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm curious to see what systems folks suggest.

    RPG for Simulation

Out of curiosity, what RPG would you suggest to somebody who wanted to run a game that was better described as "Historical Medieval" and "Simulation" but that perhaps left room for some Mysticism. If you've been watching "Vikings" on TV, what game system might you choose to match that?

Let's Look At Pathfinder 2's Weapons!

I do like that there will be more attributes with which weapons can be associated. I don't really trust Paizo to correctly associate them with the weapons. The Glaive description, for instance, doesn't really seem like a Glaive, unless perhaps they're envisioning something like an Eastern weapon...
