D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

This campaign I have been using "Side Treks" when we can't get the whole group together. Last night was one such Side Trek decided at the last minute. One thing I absolutely love about VTT games is that all the work I put into making the maps and encounters are "frozen" until needed, even...

D&D General What is your most prized Dungeons and Dragons Product?

Original copy of Saga of Old City by Gary Gygax. This screams D&D. Also, the original Endless Quest books, like Return to Brookmere by Rose Estes. These were products I had before I was really playing the game much. Like precursors.

D&D General What is your most prized Dungeons and Dragons Product?

It is a really excellent DMG expansion. I don't hear people talk about that one much.

Playing in Person Is Just Better (for me)

I do that too, I love making my own monster tokens. I needed some space orc vehicles and threw this one together with AI and a bit of Photoshop. The players loved it.

D&D General Dinosaurs in your campaigns

The only time I have ever used dinosaurs in D&D is Tomb of Annihilation. The jungle was teeming with them, both mundane and dangerous. I never had a desire to use them any other place though, and frankly thought too much monster manual space was given to them.

Playing in Person Is Just Better (for me)

Having done both, and VTT exclusively for almost 5 years now, I prefer DMing online. I was also very map and miniatures heavy in person, and it's a godsend not to print maps anymore or buy miniatures. And now I can use maps for any random roleplaying scene I want, not just combat. And some...

The Wizard May Be Weird But The Game Is Great

I have not run it yet, but the spells are very evocative and interesting. I like that although some of them feel like D&D, much of the magic system is very much its own thing. My problem would be getting players on board to try something not D&D.

D&D 5E (2024) Did you make up your mind about 5.24?

I only play online currently, and my 5e game has a lot of traction left. Sadly, Roll20 has dropped the ball with 2024 sheets, and from what I heard I don't know if they'll even be up to par with the 2014 sheets when all is said and done. I guess there's always foundry in the future, or just...

D&D General Your last adventure in photos.

We play exclusively online, but I try to make it as pretty as possible.

    D&D 5E (2014) Reducing Power Gaming

DCC just came out officially on Roll20, so I want to try that for a while when my current 5e campaign is done.

    D&D 5E (2014) Reducing Power Gaming

My solution is to slow down leveling to what I want based on story beats and not go past 8th. My players get very invested in the story and not necessarily the perks of leveling up, so when it happens they're pleased, but not jonesing for the next power up. I agree, you get too powerful too...

D&D 5E (2014) Run DnDBeyond “encounters” inside the Maps vtt!

Have to say, the fluidity of the initiative system there looks pretty sweet. I like it.
