I think I'm getting old as I'm not willing to embrace such a game, only seeing the game becoming "unplayable" after a few years when the app goes offline and the special dice/cards are lost/damaged and replacements no longer available for purchase.
Edit: Ahh. I realize where that feeling comes...
A couple of lovecraftian rps come to mind:
The Breakfast Cult
H.P. Lovecraft Preparatory Academy
Both are games where the characters will be involved in the occult in some manner.
Only dice are the right and proper randomizers that one should use for role-playing games.
Basically if a game comes out using cards, hand signals, cats, or some other device to determine outcome, it's not a role-playing game.
I'm not shocked - it's targeting the same space as 5E. And that space is crowded enough as it is.
I don't think the game is overly complicated but then all systems look complicated to those unfamiliar with them, so SotWW has at least one more obstacle to overcome with attracting backers when...
I really liked the Shadowrun system when it came out, and when Earthdawn was announced I was hoping a "fantasy" version of the Shadowrun rules.
I like Ars Magica because of its flexible system, and out of White Wolf's modern versions of Ars Magica prefer Dark Ages Mage system over Mage: The...
This.
I'd also love to play in various (original) World of Darkness games, but I think the zeitgeist of the 1990's would be impossible to recapture and I wouldn't enjoy them the same way I did back in the 1990's.
Avatar's top kickstarter pledge was $US200 and total backer count of 81,567, with most popular pledge of $75 (39,266 backers).
This one has top pledge of $US550 and most backers so far are choosing at least a pledge at $130.
So its unsurprising this kickstarter is able to get ahead of Avatar...
Brief comment - its 6 connected adventures. There is a chance for one of the player-heroes to get a heroic lineage in the second adventure, but this subplot can be dropped if its not suitable for your game.
There may be a "default" path (i.e. moving from Level 1 to Level 4 of a single Career), but you can move to any other Career rather than sticking to a small list Career Exits.
There are some higher XP costs involved (and maybe a bit of fast talking to the GM) if the Career is not within the...
I would haphazard a guess that the official timeline or lore of the game that was around the time of WFRP 2E was published, which includes the Storm of Chaos, is no more and that the Enemy Within Campaign re-published and partially re-written for 4E is likely to end up with a different future...
I pre-ordered IM and like some of the rule changes but ultimately am disappointed.
I was hoping that careers would be included in the game as I think they're an excellent tool for introducing the game's setting (and is one of the much lauded things about WRFP) but alas, the developers decided...
And its been confirmed: Hart Walkers Wardens**.
“Hart” in this case means “deer”, and not an alternative way of spelling “heart”.
** My heart said "Wardens", my fingers typed "Walkers"
I believe the Fianna have now had their name changed, despite Justin Achilli's insistence that it would remain even though the names of the other tribes were changed to remove the cultural / regional links, particularly if they would promote (negative) stereotypes.
