    Backend SKT Module Info Released

500 downtime is pretty ridiculous. If the point is to make tier 4 more accessible to players, 500 downtime isn't going to do that. Virtually no PCs that didn't take DM rewards have 500 downtime days, especially if they already spent 100 days to get to level 11. And leveling up in tier 3 tends to...

Volo's Guide AL Rules - You can play them all!

Since story origin is not a thing anymore, nothing prevents you from doing so. Just pick Volo as your +1 and take out anything that comes from other +1 sources.

DDAL DDAL05-02 and DDAL05-03 include certificates on DM's Guild.

The only time certs are absolutely needed are when trading at Fai Chen, so it's still nice to give them out. I've been told that there are no longer any printing requirements for certs (cardstock, color), so it's easy to print some black and white ones alongside the adventure.

    Improved Divine Smite

The point is to clarify that the damage stacks with extra damage from Divine Smite. "You add this damage to the extra damage of your Divine Smite" means that you add 1d8 to the 2d8 or 3d8 or whatever of your normal Smites if you choose to use it. It's not a necessary sentence, but it clarifies a...

    Improved Divine Smite

It means you get 1d8 extra radiant damage on all of your attacks, regardless of whether or not you smite with that attack.

Starting fresh in 5e and the AL; experience gained questions

2 hour APL 2 adventures give 225-300 XP, but APL 3 adventures (which are more typical) give 450-600 XP. Two such adventures would be enough to guarantee level 3.

Starting fresh in 5e and the AL; experience gained questions

Each part of 5-1 gets up to 100 XP, so you won't be level 2 until after playing 5-2. You will probably be level 3 after playing 5-3. You're not going to be level 5 after any of these adventures unless you choose to spend 20 downtime days after hitting level 4 to jump to level 5.

    Ad-hoc certs in AL?

FWIW, here's Travis's word on it on FB: He was given the power to write an Author Only adventure and make his own certs for it. Unless you have reason to suspect it's fraudulent, you have to permit it. There are all kinds of weird certs floating around AL that DMs not in the know wouldn't...

    Ad-hoc certs in AL?

It's an AL legal cert that provides a special exception to the rules. It's no different from the Cleric of Kelemvor or Aasimar certs, or magic item certs from Fai Chen, for that matter. If you run by AL rules, you must allow official AL certs.

What treasure do you wish was in upcoming adventures?

Essentially, what you're suggesting is don't play single class Champion, Battle Master, Thief, Assassin, Valor Bard, Barbarian, or Ranger in AL. I don't think it's worth killing off this many character concepts for the sake of not being a little more generous with magic weapons.

    Trinkets

You can select from the table at character creation. You can make up trinkets if you want, but DMs are under no obligation to allow them (though it's pretty harmless, so I doubt most would care).

What treasure do you wish was in upcoming adventures?

It would actually be awesome if we can buy adamantine weapons for, say, 500 extra gold, and treat them as +0 weapons. That would solve the resistance problem at higher levels and give another use for gold.

What treasure do you wish was in upcoming adventures?

AL is organized play. Pick-up games are a very large portion of overall games played. You can't expect much party coordination from a group of strangers that just sat down at a convention or store. Plus, only the Magic Weapon spell helps in this regard; you can't buy Oil of Sharpness in AL, and...

What treasure do you wish was in upcoming adventures?

In my experience, weapon-based classes without magic weapons in tier 2+ (and even some tier 1 adventures) are pretty heavily gimped. It's hard for a damage dealer to do their job when all of their attacks do half (or no) damage. I really hope future adventures have more magic weapons to provide...

When and how do you tell a DM he is possibly in error?

Disagree. I, the player, am playing a game. If the DM makes a mistake on a metagame level that can severely impact my experience in a negative way and goes against the text of the adventure, then I will bring it up. Character has nothing to do with this. If the DM accidentally uses a...

When and how do you tell a DM he is possibly in error?

If it's a clear rules issue, I'll talk about it right there, with text backup if need be. If they resist, I just let the issue go unless it's really important (e.g. someone's life is on the line). For adventure text problems and judgment differences, I just let the DM run with it unless it's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Weak Saving Throws

In my experience, weak saves are definitely a worry at high levels, but it's mitigated by the fact that you mostly just have to worry about Wisdom and Constitution saves at high levels (Dexterity can usually be mitigated with a lot of hit points, while the other three rarely come up or are just...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dwarven Battlerager Build

Barbarian levels above 8 don't really give you all that much until very high levels, so I'd suggest taking somewhere between 4 to 12 levels of Battle Master after Barbarian 8. Max your Strength as soon as possible, then take some feats: Shield Master for bonus action shoves along with some...
