    Making your own power cards

Yah, I'm thinking status cards and continuing-effect cards; having a card to 'attach' to a monster for each ongoing effect would be useful. I may try putting such effects on a half business card (split longways, I think) so they can be placed on the mat (with an arrow at one end to point to the...

    D&D 4E The 4e Pit Fiend Revisited

That'd be my guess; they might also have a Death Blast type power that adds to the Pit Fiend's explode-on-command.

Monsters that mark: A pain for DMs

Given that Marks are one to a customer, I'm thinking of buying some small laundry clips (in assorted colors) and when I mark something, I'll just latch one onto it's head. For the DM, I'd number my clips; for players, pick a color.

    4th Edition: portable?

The PDF business got dropped in favor of rules database approach. Not as convenient for this at least.

    Heck, they even rolled a 20! :D

    WotC_Dave: Color Power!

Well, I'm not colorblind: but a quick run through Vischeck suggests that the Red spell headers and Green monster headers will be an issue for the colorblind, alas. But I agree: it's clearly labeled, so the color blind will be missing an extra cue, not missing out.

    Magical items

THIS. At one point in the early 90's, I was in a party that ran through a number of classic modules as written, gathering the wealth therein. By 14th level, the Paladin had: A Holy Avenger 2 Frostbrands 4 Flametongue swords at least one of each 'Slayer sword And enough +1/+2 swords to equip...

D&D 4E What place does dual wielding have in 4E?

One of the in-house playtest groups features a Halfling Ranger named Biggie Smalls--who frequently dual wields. Of course, these playtest reports don't give us any dual-wielidng crunch but clearly dual-wield is in.

Points of Light approach to setting

For more magically potent worlds, certain lands could even be 'Shangri-la' type places, that can't always be reached by merely physical means (The Land in the Covenant Chronicles is like this). And likewise, some kinds of terrain could be ambiguous--you may be able to encounter some wastelands...

Points of Light approach to setting

If I were building an isolated Inn, I'd probably build it where it doubles as toll booth or where it's the last stop before a very dangerous area. I could see dwarves build an Inn/Outpost that blocks a mountain pass, or halflings building an Inn/Bridge combo or the like. From what I...

Metallic Dragons in or out? Looking for confirmation either way

This *could* be a canary trap, too: every playtest group could have been given a different set of monsters (they probably statted up more than they could print in MM I; after all, some monsters will turn out to just not work, the layout might change, requiring some cuts, etc.). If so, then any...

D&D 4E NPC behaviour and knowledge in 4ed

I'd assume from this, that the challenged creature grasps the nature of the challenge. Naturally, that doesn't imply every creature would immediately understand every effect they get hit with.

Implication of choosing powers from another class's list

My personal guess is that the Half-Elf racial power allows you to get one power from a different class of the same power source; that'd keep down the Fighter/Magic Missile problem (and this fits our 1 data point).

Design & Development: Warlord Article UP!

You're actually thinking of Ringworld (discworld is Pratchett). But that is a interesting idea for psychic powers! (Of course, Teela was something of an anti-defender; everyone *but* her took damage...)

    D&D 4E 4e font?

Hmmm, that's a neat site. Too bad that it gives me a list of similar fonts that are as obscure (and unavailable!) as the Mentors. :( A quick run through of fonts in Word suggests mainly that Word/Windows ships with way too many bone-ugly fonts. And that Cambria and Trebuchet would probably do...

    Making your own power cards

If you want something less elaborate, you could also use printable business cards for powers, effects, statuses, simpler monsters, etc. You'd have to build the cards via Word/Excel or similar, of course. I'll probably do this, for at least some things (terrain? hmmm....)

    Solo Play

That's the exact situation of my current group, too. And based on what I've seen, it looks like it'll generally be easier for small or solo games. On one hand, the characters themselves seem to be better rounded out. From what we've seen, most (all?) classes will be able to be...
