    Quest for ULTIMATE BARDIC POWER!

What was that about not being a wrong 'un? :)

The Age of Worms - Morrus' Campaign - Finished 6th August!!

Not sure tbh - this adventure is the first place any of us has come across this particular piece of lore... Nice writings there Mr Nick :) If I can get my printer going, I'm going to take a copy of the picture descriptions. Have a strange feeling they might become relevant sooner or later :)

    How critical is equipment?

The GM might well not be cutting the wealth down. We just finished the first module in a campaign path last night. Put the party at 3rd level. Turns out we did all the 'plot critical' areas of the dungeon and missed most of the bits with loot in. IME, other people are right, the balance of...

    DM-dependent PC abilities

I quite agree - although I'd tone it as reminding the GM, rather than forcing his hand. :) Guess, running for a table full of PCs, it's entirely possible to forget one of them has specific DM dependant class ability? A gentle IC reminder every now and again and I figure most GMs will throw...

How do you tell a fellow player he can't pick a particular feat for his PC?

I couldn't care less what feats players took, as long as they get some use out of them. Or even planned to use them for something. Or thought it might be useful sometime. If a character is an avid basket weaver then SF: Basket Weaving may make great sense for them. If this wizard were at the...

best 5th level spell for blaster sorcerer

Telekinisis really does rock IMO. The combat maneuvers are excellent if you're running short on spells - you get your levels worth of rounds of ruining someones day for 1 X 5th level slot? As for feats, my last sorceror got a lot of mileage out of sudden maximise. You can really ruin someones...

    Homebrew settings and player appeal

I'd be more worried if they said it was a homebrew they could explain fully in a short paragraph :) Why players should want to play homebrew: As a general rule, I think happy GM = better gaming. If the GM enjoys and wants to homebrew, I'd rather play it over a published setting. They'll be...

    Learning spells....

Don't think necromancy is much of a bard forte generally :) They cast like sorcerors... It might be of limited use to me, could study what's available and pray to my god for similar miracles. Although frankly a lot of the stuff I've seen so far looked too 'icky' for me. :)

The Age of Worms - Morrus' Campaign - Finished 6th August!!

Another fine piece of work there Mr Eccles! Thanks for the writing up! Managed to spin a most readable story out of it all! :) From a PCs POV: That fight was really close. We'd all dribbled down to our last few hit points when Flynn cornered the necromancer and his cowardice took over. A...

Class concepts that you just can't work out neatly in DnD

I've tried something like that... albeit with stats instead of entire classes. The players collectively didn't like it. They didn't know whether their version of 'about right' was the same as everyone elses. Wanted some kind of guideline to tie it all too, make sure none of them was really out...

Class concepts that you just can't work out neatly in DnD

Hehe - in that case, you were a much wiser 11 year old than me. :) Seem to recall I took all kinds of minor hinderances (which didn't really apply), in order to create a ridiculous mage. The others all did the same... was impressed the game made it nearly 2 hours before imploding. Although the...

Class concepts that you just can't work out neatly in DnD

Reckon the DnD class system is fantastic for a certain type of game: If you want a 'dungeon crawl', it's easy to do - way more so than any other system I can think of. Clearly defined needs for a party and lots of straightforward archetypes to fill all the niches. I'd go as far as saying it's a...

Morality, laws, so on and so forth!

And that statment makes the whole business seem so much more wholesome :) Think it's a base 20, but at least +5 if you want them to be a drunken rowdy mob!

    Learning spells....

In this case, we better enforce some serious downtime at regular intervals. Otherwise you'll just be getting the 2 free spells at each level and that's silly!

    Feats for vetting.

Got a couple of non Phb feats I'd be interested in... like to get a thumbs up or down on them: Improved Toughness (Complete Warrior) Prequisites: Base fort save 2+ Effect: Gain hp equal to you HD. Domain Spontaneity (Complete Divine) Prequisites: Ability to turn or rebuke undead. Effect: Spend...

Got it! Thanks for clearing that one up... So, we have a moral grey area to play about in :)

Morality, laws, so on and so forth!

What i meant was, does that mean - 1 cast = you = evil - or is it more subtle? Partly what I'm getting at is - how should we expect to react if Steve animated some corpses? What about Animate Dead - which is [Evil] - compared to the new Summon Skeleton spell, which doesn't have that...

Morality, laws, so on and so forth!

Figured it's time to ask! As we know: It is very evil to kill a surrendered person. Covered that satisfactorily last week. Now, on to part 2: Exactly how evil is necromancy? Figure the attacking/cursing spells are just like any other magic, but what about raising the dead? Does it make any...

In fairness, i think a story hour > intro paragraph on here. So I'd let Nik off the hook? :)

The Age of Worms - Morrus' Campaign - Finished 6th August!!

Shh Mr Morrus, or we'll bring up gas pedals again. :] I play Torvig the cleric by the way. Nice writing there Nik, think you've managed to capture the feel of the thing really neatly :) I'm really interested to see the next installment - morality 101.
