The Age of Worms - Morrus' Campaign - Finished 6th August!!

I love that mental image. :) Brain eating ghosts and cowbells ftw! Was definitely Endos week - the dice wanted those spells to kill/maim and ruin everything!

    The Viridian Legacy

That managed to slip me by for a few days, but caught up with it now! Another fine update there. Do like the use of the Spoiler text for the off table chatter. :) That hobgoblin seemed quite a wrecking machine. Think the sentiment of not wanting an army of those is most sensible. Did you...

    Jonathan Tweet denounces Power Attack

I can definitely see where you're coming from here. IMO it's often a casters weakest point - dealing HP damage to 'one big monster' - i.e. strong saves/sr/resists. (Although the Orb spells from CA would probably disagree). That fireball you exampled gets way more impressive when it hits a dozen...

The Age of Worms - Morrus' Campaign - Finished 6th August!!

Thanks for the writeup there Mr Eccles! Rocking stuff! Hehe - that was one tough fight. I want to know what kind of sadist thinks a Titan isn't challenging enough for a party of 15-16th level adventurers - so throws in a pack of Advanced Gargoyle Fighters. :o Not to give too much away, but...

    Wizard spellbook blues

I've recently ran RHoD - thought about this while reading it. Decided to House Rule/Handwave it for the 2 wizards in the party. There was a lot of travel time in the campaign. Ruled they could scribe while travelling. Rather than the mental image of lots of ink sloshing everywhere on...

    Jonathan Tweet denounces Power Attack

Really like Power Attack's results - IMO, it's nice for a high level fighter type to be able to splatter someone from time to time - and helps them keep up with the neighbours (spellcasters). But do find it one of the most complex bits of the game - sat on top of a pile of 'fiddly' buffs...

What's the rationale behind non-crittable monsters again?

Looking at this from a mechanical point of view - rather than the 'fluff text' of what a sneak attack/crit represents: Someone mentioned melee and DR, Casters and SR - In 3.5 DR provides a constant reduction - but the fighter can generally still do something. Casters spells will sometimes fail...

    Daggers are AWESOME!

That site is awesome. Never realised I wanted to know what an iPhone looks like in a blender. :) Thanks for the answers as well - realise the answer is 'hidden in plain sight' in the first line of ghost touch. :o

    30th-level PC versus kingdom--who wins?

The good old fashioned spawning undead bomb? 1) Get a Scroll of Create Greater Undead - could do really nasty things to a settlement. For that, the best villan of choice might be an undead cleric - using shadows - create 1, command it, any spawn are under its control. Might not kill everyone...

    Daggers are AWESOME!

Some random questions about magic items, blinking and throwing daggers. Been looking at the SRD and find these a bit grey: 1) Would a ghost touch weapon bypass the miss chance while blinking? It states that it can (along with a seeing invisible creatures ability) allow the attacker to negate...

    Most powerful feat ever?

Saw a 3rd party book with Ranged Power Attack for archers - that was potentially unceccesarily silly. (Mongoose, I think?)

    Best Paladin in core-rule??

With just the core and no splat books, think the indoor paladin is possibly best. Mounted Combat focused halfling paladin - can ride the Riding Dog mount around pretty much anywhere a human could go. Indoor lance related cheese. Not core, but: I remember something along the lines of - Paladin...

Does a PC Have Amnesia? Try This!

I think that's kinda fair enough if someone comes up with 'My character has (explosive!) amnesia' as an entire background. Especially if you can all have fun with it. Think it'd work with one or two players in my group - some of the others would take it personally. Personally, I really like...

The Age of Worms - Morrus' Campaign - Finished 6th August!!

Cerulean_Wings - glad you're enjoying the story there! :) Yeah - we felt the same in the temple - it did get that feeling of "How much more of this can we take?". The Aspect at the end was simply terrifying. Can still recall that fight clearly. Am certain that if Steves Ray of Enfeeblement...

The Age of Worms - Morrus' Campaign - Finished 6th August!!

An insane titan, no less. The death was a real shame - after the problems with the nightmare beast the week before we took steps to prepare for this one - lots of buffing. However the 9th level spells it attacked us with were problematic. Weird is dead scary!

The Age of Worms - Morrus' Campaign - Finished 6th August!!

To be fair, it's my own fault! Underestimated the thing and it splatted me. Would have been an entirely different story with the correct buffing and preparations. Ah well, it's all a learning experience. Yeah - Necromancers do rock and Endo has been played great - found it a real eye opener...

    The Viridian Legacy

That's been a really fun read! I shall definitely be following this one. Drinking and Kobolds is a classic starting point for any story... and there seems to be the first murmerings of a really big plot. Worm Priests are no bad thing either! Thanks very much! Out of curiousity - what's the...

I've added a rogues gallery entry for Fez now as well. Seemed a good idea on a slow morning! It's here.

The Age of Worms - Morrus' Campaign - Finished 6th August!!

A fine write up again there Mr Nik! Did feel sorry for the ropers - we'd stuck Freedom of Movement on to avoid something else we were expecting - it really did them no favours. Awww. Bah - the damn cave dwelling thing ripped Fez to bits in a single round - close to 200Hp dealt, I think...
