It takes a wizard to make a village.

Over on the strong hold threads got me thinking. So, you just picked up leadership for your 12 th level feat and you want to start making a home town as a base. You need something basic to keep your loyals safe while construction continues. So, after getting the grant of deed from the royals...

    New Spell: Voronious's Infinite Youth

I meant a gem, too. Since raising from the dead is 5,000, now a days, not aging for years has to be worth at least as much. The sponge is a nice touch, though. More later, Vahktang

trying to find a good feat for a 3rd level dedicated healer cleric

Toughness :) Extra turning. With that it really opens up things for you for your 6th level feat. Defenders of the faith allows all kinds of things with that as a prerequisite. More later, Vahktang

    Feat for Druid lvl9

Toughness. :) Craft Miscellaneous Magic Items Where do all those Amulet's of Natural Armor come from if not from druids? Or skip the whole melee thing and work your way to augment summoning. More later, Vahktang

    Help creating a Druid character

Augment Summoning. Get it as soon as possible. Then just go to town and make more summoned critters on the battle field. Works very well. Nobody carries Protection from Evil/good, etc around. And the listen/spot is a good idea, too. More later, Vahktang

Food you would find at a D&D Tavern

First off, if you're in a big town, you had apartments and apartment complexes, but kitchens weren't available. So, you'd go down to the neighborhood tavern and in return for allowing the cooking of your food, you'd give a portion to the tavern. Next, seasonal food. Beef in winter in spring...

    New Spell: Voronious's Infinite Youth

Well, first off, no youthening in 3.0 (+) They got rid of the longevity potion. And there used to be phalactary (sp) (I think) If you ignore that, then the spell should be 9th, not 8th. Keeping youth is a very powerful motivation. If the Fort save is made, the caster should still lose D6 years...

    Hitting the negative HP gap.

At the moment the house rule is CON bonus added to the -10 (so to speak) I have toyed with: Character is dead, negative HP + CON bonus and then some. If a cure can be administered that takes her into positive before her next turn, then the character can live. Kind of the 'Clear! <zap>' we see in...

Stronghold building - Do you do this?

Well, if you had suceeded to build the castle it would have just fallen into the swamps. The next one would have burnt down. The one after that would have burnt down then fallen into the swamps. But the _next_ one... :) More later, Vahktang

Oft-repeated "theme" phrases from your Campaigns and their origins.

"I have a cunning yet subtle plan." Our most experienced gamer says that and the plan usually works. And if it doesn't, it isn't his fault. I have yet to see him really botch a plan. More later, Vahktang

How often does Antimagic come up in your game?

Never, so far, in 20+ years of gaming. I had it set up for this sunday, but our heroes killed off the big bad guy last sunday, so the minion with the anti magic field is not going to show up. Sometimes around summer our heroes are going into a beholder lair. If they don't get side tracked. More...

Asking the Experts: Best Metamagic Feat?

In 3.0 it was Extend. Make that hour/level spell last _days_ at higher level. In both versions, still spell. Best way to take down a spell caster: Grapple. Best way around that: do spells without somatic components. More later, Vahktang

Cohorts - how do you handle them?

One of my players just took the leadership feat. The way I'm going to run it is that she requests the classes, I supply them. Cohort will NPC a level with the character. Player will decide on the way to keep or find another. But here's the big question: how do you all handle cohort making magic...

Needed: 12 'impossible' tasks (my players keep out!)

Duh. Or just line it. Take straw. But you don't have an axe. Sharpen it. But you don't have a stone. Etc. (Never mind. I was thinking of a bucket) Do the old 'one of us is lying' thing. See Labarinth (SP) I remember: Walking through fire - permanent wall of fire Getting your head cut off -...

    Too fast! Too fast!

Talk to the players. Do they think progression is too fast. See if you can talk them into a percentage, 1/2 is easiest. Otherwise, there are a lot of level drainer undeads out there, they sometimes travel in packs, and retorations are expensive. More later, Vahktang

Rate the stereotype - do you raid dungeons?

Ya need the dungeons. That's where the major threat comes from. Out door encounters allow the PC's to heal up total between encounters. Tricks and traps are fun and right possible in dungeons. And I'm doing a 'kick in the door' as a player now. Unfortunately, we got in too deep and had to do a...

Islands of Peril and Lost Civilizations on a Sea Voyage....

That one is fun. I always wanted to do King Kong. Also, how about an alternate world - bunch of our time soldiers on an island with machine guns, mines, etc, and the heroes have to take them out. Make them guns not work off the island or keep the ammo low for balance. Finally, the island that...

    Firing from 2nd line

First off, nice Diagram. From what I understand, as long as C & D and X & Y are not actually in melee, A & B can fire at no penalty to their heart's content. In the six second rounds that these things take, C & D are assumed to flatten, or A & B are assumed to wait for that clear shot, even...

Shouldn't drawing arrows from your quiver be a 'drawing a weapon' move equivelent act

Thanks, Phillip. Knew it was out there, just didn't know where. Didn't know about slings, though. Don't know why that's not a free action. And sure cocking a crossbow is move equivelent, but pulling ammo shouldn't be any harder than pulling an arrow. And I guess since darts are not...

What Were They Thinking? Worst Comic Ideas.

Ditto on that one. Never thought of that. Good point. You're making that up. It didn't happen that way. :) My own $.02: Phoenix saga. After she died and they bring her back. But not her, someone else. And the clone Or something. So bad. More later, Vahktang
