    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Hi Minigiant, I want to reiterate that I would like you to get the kinds of elements you desire in future D&D books. At this point, I am not precisely sure why I continue to read this thread as, speaking for myself, I certainly do not want you unhappy with D&D and I think the last ten pages or...

D&D 5E (2014) Two New D&D Books Revealed: Feywild & Strixhaven Mage School

All good points. You are illustrating the great flexibility of D&D. For me, though, it has not been about swapping ability scores at all...it is simply the material component requirement for some spells, which really could also be hand waved away with out too much of a concern (to use the...

D&D 5E (2014) Two New D&D Books Revealed: Feywild & Strixhaven Mage School

Well said, Marandahir. I think this is well thought out. My desire for a psionicist or mystic is that I would like the game to allow me to create a Professor X-type character. I think the closest I could get now would be with an aberrant mind sorcerer with subtle spell as meta magic. Honestly...

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Florence Nightingale

Certainly the way the game originated and the way the game is usually discussed this is true, Ixal, without a doubt. But, as I said, I have seen a player make a character who was not a killer and, to her credit, it was barely noticeable most of the time. The existence of the Peace domain and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Florence Nightingale

I am not sure that it is the level system that is relevant...it is simply the need for each character's attacks to be included because D&D is so combat-heavy. I have DM-ed a character who did not fight. The class and level system worked great for her...she was one of my favorite characters...

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Florence Nightingale

Thanks, Mike. I always love your builds. When faced with an illumined figure like Nightingale, it is apparent how D&D (a game so close to my heart) truly breaks down...having to include "sneak attacks" and knife attacks for her seems so preposterous, right? This, by the way, is no criticism of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

There is the additional point that, even though I want Minigiant and Tetrasodium to receive what they desire in D&D books, much of what I have seen requested in the last few pages of this thread seems to be at odds with one of the main design goals of D&D Next and Fifth edition: to make combat...

Spelljammer Spelljammer and the Mirror Planes Question

There would be Feywuld and Shadowfell equivalents of Crystal Spheres, their celestial bodies, and the phlogiston between them (how they would differ would be up to you)...but everything else you asked has not been identified in print and, personally, a Shadowfell or Feywild Spelljammer campaign...

D&D 5E (2014) Why not Alternity? (Or, will or how might WotC do SF?)

I cannot speak to Alternity, but I would really love to see Wizard's publish new and different games and it would be great to see them put their talent behind a robust science fiction game. That would be wonderful.

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

What about those using the Wildemount book? Tetra, we will see. I simply think you are identifying problems where there are none, but I grow weary my friend. I need to retire. Peace! As Gillian Welch sings, “Time’s the revelator.” 😀

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

I do not fully get this. Isn’t this what D&D Beyond is for? Even if they wanted to publish a 400-page volume, would that not be even more intimidating to a new player? Wouldn’t the cost be prohibitive? Wizards of the Coast has worked so hard to reprint material from Sword Coast and Eberron in...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

(y):) Ok. When it comes to expressions like "basically not even bothering with the rules," put me in agreement with Marandahir, Oofta, and Parmandur earlier in this thread. I think Wizards of the Coast are deploying rules through storylines (e.g. arctic conditions rules in Iceland Dale instead...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Ouch. You sound mad (hard to tell in this text-only format). I am not trying to upset you. I would add "storylines," as I have not used the terms "races archtypes [sic] and settings" in our conversation. What I have said is that, in the 5th edition era, Wizards has said that they are...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Hello Tetra, When it comes to my work on literature, sometimes I discuss "magpieism." I do not recall using that phrase or suggesting "mere observation of magpiesism is judgment" anywhere here. Heck, I can't even write "magpieism" without the spellcheck of this forum-posting program attempting...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Hey, Ruin, why are you using inflammable words like "naughty word" and "bollocks." Write when you are not so worked up because I do not see enough parameters to make a clear bet. I would like to establish those parameters without the escalating language. So, in order to contribute to the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

I want in on some of that sweet green in this bet and, if is not clear, I am on Oofta's side. :D This was my posting way back on the top of page three of this thread (posting #40), which I wrote to put myself on the record using specific years.

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Howdy Tetra. As I mentioned pages ago and as Marandahir stated quite well, this criticism is based on evaluating D&D 5th edition based on development and deployment of rules. At the launch of 5th edition, the designers made it clear that going forward they were interested in having the game...
