Racially diverse artwork in D&D...does it influence you?

Only to have him played by Caspar van Diem, sadly, and not a Filipino... Thankfully, we've got shows like Battlestar Galactica that are willing to recast roles to add some diversity. Having the entire sci-fi genre be a 'white man's club' is old. I imagine it won't be too long before we have a...

Racially diverse artwork in D&D...does it influence you?

I always saw Naull as kinda Mayan / South American Indian looking. Ember with the African-American appearance was also pretty cool. But the ultimate in inclusiveness, Mialee, the Iconic Transexual... Well, yes, they are ethnically diverse, in that they can be any shade of white you want. :)

    Arrows Usable Once Only?

I think it better fits the 'feel' of 4E to just ignore ammunition completely. Just like material components. Unless the character has a specific reason *not* to have arrows / bolts / throwing knives, etc. just let them fire all day. The Wizard can shoot all day, so why not the Fighters?

    Thiefling names

At least in the minds of WotC developers. Due to the LA, nobody wanted to play them, and the number of builds involving that race was breathtaking in it's paucity. The 'Lesser Planetouched' of the Players Guide to the Realms were more popular, but the Aasimar still beat out the Tieflings due...

Name Resources: For those who have trouble naming their rogues, villians and heroes

Onamastikon http://tekeli.li/onomastikon/ I use this one to find names for Dark Ages or Age of Conan characters, etc. Awesome resource!

"Iconic" encounters for a 1st lvl Points of Light PbP game

I haven't read through all of the spoilered replies yet, so forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but part of the premise reminds me of the setting for Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

"Syndrome" Syndrome: or the Fallacy of "Special"

Don't let the philosophy majors spoil it with the various hair-brained marxist/nietzchean/cheech&chong agendas they are attaching to it. It's a freaking *awesome* movie; hilarious, exciting and fun, and dragging it into this quagmire is like calling Finding Nemo nazi propoganda.** I'm pretty...

"Syndrome" Syndrome: or the Fallacy of "Special"

I thought that the 'everyone is special, and therefore no one is' was the same point made in Harrison Bergeron.

    twisted fairy tales

I like this one, but I'd tweak it so that the sword is inhabited by the spirit of an evil knight from ages past, something of a local boogeyman. He was so wicked that when he was finally killed (dropped down a shaft into some catacombs), priests consecrated the entire area and abandoned it to...

new gamers from the ranks of WoW types

Bah. The only computers they had when I started playing D&D had names like Univac and were the size of my house, and had the computing power of a Speak N Spell. We had to walk uphill, both ways, in the driving snow, in the middle of summer to get to our games... Also? Dinosaurs!

Regarding the (supposed) lack of role-playing in 4E

The only times I see rules as having anything to do with role-playing are the following cases; Alignments. If they were tendencies, that's no big deal, many of us have tendencies to be nice or nasty or law-abiding or freewheeling. But they aren't, they are very specific and have mechanical...

Fluff me this: female tiefling + fey pact warlock!

Eyes burning and fists clenched so hard that her nails drew blood from her palms, she fled into the night, the devil's laughter echoing behind her. She could remember his mocking laughter, after all of her invocations and sacrifices. "Why would I give you *anything,* foolish girl. I have...

[4e Setting] No Age for Heroes

This is a pretty awesome sounding campaign premise. The masked, mute tribes really call to me. Why do they hide their faces? Why do they refuse to speak? Are they hiding from something? Are they atoning for something? Are they guarding some terrible secret? Do they even know? So cool!

4E - WotC's equivalent to the New World of Darkness?

I was pretty invested into the established World of Darkness setting (much as I am into the 3E D&D game, to the tunes of thousands of dollars worth of stuff and hundreds of books), so I was hoping that the 'new' World of Darkness would just be an improvement on what had come before, a bit of nip...

    Yeenoghu Entry = AWESOME.

Aw man, Yeenoghu is one of my favorites, and since it's D&D Insider, I won't be able to read it! (D&D Insider doesn't like me. Doesn't take my login, doesn't allow me to create another one. I must have pissed off the WotC gods...)

    [3.5] Most bizarre—yet playable—character concept

Oddest character we've had was Blackie, a Raven who was Familiar to a high level Wizard who happened to be in Temporal Stasis or Imprisoned or something (Blackie wasn't sure, only that 'master wasn't answering, but he's not dead!'). The Familiar has been flitting around the city for years, and...

What have you done to Drow in your world?

I went the route of the OP, having the 'Drow' be half-breed lower-caste members of Dark Elven society, while their rulers are Half-Fiendish. Like all Elves, they aren't terribly fertile normally, but by mixing their blood with that of demons, they've become extremely fecund, and also gained...

How often are you visiting the WoTC boards?

Used to go daily. More recently, I've checked in to the Realms and Char Op forums about once a week. Since they re-arranged the site and I don't see those forums any more, I've just dropped the site completely. It's really got nothing for me anymore.

    Undead Hellfire Warlock

Traditionally, undead who have abilities that require Con use their Cha scores instead. So the Undead Hellfire Warlock could retain his powers, but blow Charisma points instead of Con points. He'd still want some way to get those back, and, unlike a living Hellfire Warlock, he's not gonna get...
