    D&D 5E (2024) [HOMEBREW] Ranger Ideas +

I'd actually prefer the ranger be more of a glass canon. D6 hit die and extra damage. It would be a nice counter to the paladin being support / defense.

    D&D 5E (2024) [HOMEBREW] Ranger Ideas +

Does that mean using the base class as is? Because the only way I can think of to "fix' it without yet another edition is to add spells. Specifically spells that stack with or count as Hunter's Mark, and thus use the base clase features

D&D 5E (2024) Fixing ranger with higher level mark spells.

Well you can homebrew and third party it. But they just printed the book, I can't imagine them changing it for another 10 years. But they could add more spells. Give it more of it's own identity.

D&D 5E (2024) Fixing ranger with higher level mark spells.

Because it has, and it's not going to change anytime soon. Accept what can't be changed (the base class) and change what you can (add new spells). Sure, but you need to somehow add in "Hunter's Mark" so it benefits from the ranger features. I.e. can't break on concentration, advantage on the...

D&D 5E (2024) Fixing ranger with higher level mark spells.

Needs better wording, but what if higher level ranger spells that combined with Hunter's Mark. Thus giving more variety. This doesn't require any rewrites to the ranger class, just new spells. And thus more likely to go though possible ways to combine When you cast this spell you also cast...

Dungeons & Dragons Announces Horror Subclasses Unearthed Arcana

There are enough slots and free casts to maintain it just fine. The issue is they can't use other concentration spells in combat. But even then, most are out of combat spells and not competing with HM (pass without trace, locate object, beast sense). And many other concentration spells don't...

Unearthed Arcana UA Phantom Rogue still seems BORING and feels OUTDATED in 5e2024. It's basically a vanilla Rogue before 9.

It's unchanged because it's popular enough as is. Same as most of this UA. Only 3 new subclasses (counting hexblade as new). The rest are minor tweaks.

Dungeons & Dragons Announces Horror Subclasses Unearthed Arcana

You get Spare the Dying with the subclass. You don't need to cast it any other time, just when someone drops.

    D&D 5E (2024) Modest Ranger Fix

I'd much prefer level 20 being something like "All creatures are considering under your Hunter's Mark". Also. Level 11: you can add +Wis to damage once per turn.

    D&D 5E (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

Because control inherently scales. Command, or instance, works just as well against a Goblin as a Dragon Turtle. And a cleric can cast it 6 times vs goblins, and 22 times vs Dragon Turtles. Thus they scale 4x faster than monsters. Where a fighter might take 2 turns to kill something at level...

    D&D 5E (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

Casting spells isn't a martial thing. Nothing wrong with hybrids of course. It won't help champion, Thief, Assassin, Beserker, ect... Reducing high level spell slots is simple and would. They are all level 2 things now. But again, I boosted lowest level spell casting, and reduced it at higher...

    D&D 5E (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

I mean, kill off all martials would technically balance them, but I don't think that's the best solution. I added a few more spells at lower levels. Removed them at higher levels. Wizards gets arcane recovery Druid gets wild shape Sorcerer's have spell points Cleric have channel divinity Same...

    D&D 5E (2014) Should 3PP upgrade their books to 2024 versions?

Unless you made something like an anti-magic paladin subclass that prevents spells and relied on divine smite not being one, I don't see the need. Things haven't shifted that much, and I doubt it will be worth the extra publishing cost. Though if you have digital distribution, then it wouldn't...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 - Do magic weapons bypass resistance now?

Ah.. that makes a bit more sense. Still don't like gating by item, but it would work better that way. How did they avoid fights? Was there a way to run from a fight if you got over your head? Or was scouting assumed? Or did you just assume monsters never chased you? Or...?

D&D 5E (2014) I feel like the surveys gaslit WotC about """"Backwards Compatibility""""

Choices are good. If everything was a free action, you would just do it everything every turn. Now you need to choose between lay on hands or smite, or polearm master, or..m That didn't change. But my point was that I would of split paladin to be defensive and ranger to be offensive. i.e...

D&D 5E (2014) What If Everyone Could Use Scrolls? (House rule)

I've made similar suggestions before. Anyone could cast any spell, but it just took a long time. I.e. 1st level spells take 10 minutes 2nd level spells take 30 minutes 3rd level takes an hour. ... 9th level takes a 100 years. Casters learn to do it faster. And multi people can help to speed...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 - Do magic weapons bypass resistance now?

Unless your going to rewrite all the casters to have less magic, and remove all the magical ability from all the races, then no. 5e isn't a low magic game. Neither was 4e or 3e. It's heroic fantasy. Maybe 2e was, never played it. Possibly due a shift due to real world technology. In the...

D&D 5E (2014) I feel like the surveys gaslit WotC about """"Backwards Compatibility""""

Dunno. Having advantage and being able to reroll Chromatic Orb has, at least at low levels, let the sorcerer easily out damage the wizard. Disagree. Paladin is still probably the strongest class. Putting smite, divine favor, and lay on hands as both bonus actions seems appropriate IMO. Helps...
