Big things are developing. Stay tuned.

Great, another product with too much crunch and not enough fluff!

    Star wars SAGA cover?

Good to hear! I'm not only interested because it is Star Wars, but for all the d20 tweaks and changes too. Plus, I really don't want to have to buy a fourth core rule book anytime soon. ;)

    Star wars SAGA cover?

In Jedi Counseling #100 (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=starwars/article/sw20061214jc100) it was said to be March, but that was posted back on Dec 14, 2006. Since then it has been moved to coincide with all the 30th Anniversary Star Wars merchandise we're sure to see. Too bad, I was all...

    Star wars SAGA cover?

Hmm, it may be a placeholder, but I still like it. It kind of grabs you. Okay, I admit it, that was bad... I'm sorry.

    RPG Settings

Forget meta-plots. Give me a detailed history and means and motivations for the major players. This way I can see where things may go, even world changing things, but can use them as I see fit in the campaign.

    Quick and Easy XP System

I'd love to see what you modify and how it works out. I won't get a chance to DM again soon, so I haven't had a chance to test this in play. But next time I do, I'd like to use something similar to what I've proposed.

    Quick and Easy XP System

The scribing costs are insignificant when the caster level is much greater than the spell level. For example, a 10th level wizard scribing a 1st level spell = 10 XP cost. Perhaps you could adopt a rule of thumb for penalty free scribing. Something like "If caster level minus spell level is...

    Quick and Easy XP System

I thought about increasing the range of available challenges (1-5, 1-10), but each time you do that, you must increase the number of points to level. If you carry this to the extreme, you pretty much come back to the experience system that is already in place. Like I said, I want something quick...

    Quick and Easy XP System

I've been toying with the idea of an alternate XP system. The one in place isn't bad, but I'd just like something that is easier to use, but still fits into the existing system. Here's what I've come up with so far: D&D is based off 13 encounters per level. So, I've extrapolated that to 26...

    What would soften the blow?

4E is coming... eventually. When it finally shows itself, these are the things that would soften the blow: 1. Keep the OGL. 2. Combine the PHB and DMG into one core book, like d20 Modern or Star Wars. Basically, lower the entry price by producing one book. MM can remain a seperate line. 3...

Wizard of the Coast Updated Product Listing!

Some interesting items on the list. I couldn't help but notice some of the late in the year publications (History, Confessions, Rules Compendium): Are these the Christmas gift items? Or end of the life cycle products? And there are a lot of adventures. Why the resurgence of adventures? Do they...

    Rent-A-DM

Why not just create an online review database? Each DM that wants to be an official Pro DM registers with the site (perhaps an entry test or fee). An entry is created for the DM and the players are able to write reviews for each DM. The site also has the benefit of being able to look up DM's...

    Rent-A-DM

I don't think anyone could replace their normal job with being a paid-DM, however, there are probably a number of people who could make some extra money doing something they like to do anyway. This way, the prices so far mentioned don't necessarily have to be so high. Also, I don't think it is...

    Rent-A-DM

You've hit on a couple of good points. The first I'd say is a must and kind of goes without saying. Second, I think part of the idea is to get the players hooked. I know when the next disk for 24 arrives from Netflix I abandon all self-control and know I'm going to be watching all four episodes...

    Rent-A-DM

After seeing businesses like Super Suppers and Let's Dish pop up, where people pay to make a meal with their friends under the supervision of a chef, I'm wondering about the possibility of a paid DM. A bunch of friends get together at a gaming store and each pay a small fee to have a game DMed...

    Liven Up My Game

Here's a few thoughts to spice things up or make the game sessions go easier: Dangle the carrot right in front of the players. Have an NPC hire them to recover the Mystical Treasure of Marrisopa, the NPC only wants a certain item, the PCs can have the rest. You don't need to hand hold them, the...

    Iron Heroes vs Conan

Thanks for all the input. It sounds like I can't go wrong either way and my decision will probably be made based on price. Assuming I can get my group to bite on something other than 3.5 D&D. ;)

Is it time for Free RPG Day?

Isn't this why we have worldwide D&D Day? An opportunity to get people to try playing an RPG for free. It seems to me, just getting the rules into the hands of a new player isn't enough. The new player needs a group to get into.

    Iron Heroes vs Conan

I want to run a kick down the door, low but scary magic, kill the big bad guy, save the world game. The Iron Heroes and Conan books have caught my eye and was wonder what you thoughts on the two are. A few points: (1) Magic will corrupt, so the players won't probably won't be magic-using base...
