Whoa! Just... Whoa! I hadn't thought about using the decanter of endless water as an energy source. Hmmm. This almost completely changes economics in a modern world with magic (d20 modern) campaign. Cool! I'd definitely take this. Inifinte energy source.

I would just like to say WOO-HOO! Animals with realistic Cha and Int! I remember in NWN, my Dire Wolf had an Int of 16 and a Cha of 18. Not too realistic.

Reread my post. The loss of buff spells hurts Wizards just as much as Fighters. It would be like a Cleric losing heal spells. Sure, heal spells don't benefit the Cleric directly, but heal spells are a good deal of the Cleric's strength because it is so good for the party. Same with buffs.

You are forgetting two things in your analasis: 1.) Fireball is an area spell. It can affect more than 1 person, unlike a Fighter. 2.) A 10th level Wizard can cast 5th level spells. Change that to an empowered Fireball.

I really like buffing Wizards. It was especially good in my PK-happy party. Nobody wanted to kill the guy who was making em stronger every day. Shield, Fly, invis... All are really good. the animal buffing spells are really good too. Once you get to a high level, there aren't as many...

Meh. This'll make Clerics run around with Fireballs and Horrid Wiltings. Not good.

Haste, I'll agree, was broken. It needed to be fixed. Almost everything after that was pointless. Buff spells are now useless. Why? Bull's Strength will now give +2 to attack and +2 to damage. For a combat or 2. this is about the same power as bless, who gives everybody +1/+1 to attack...

errr, just how did hivemind start up? Why do you guys feel so compulsed to ramble on for hours and hours about abosolutely nothing?

Going farther into technology, I can see magic being a great boon. Once a mage gets it into his head, I wouldn't doubt that he could make a spell that gives the heat of fusion for a near endless energy source.

The party will almost always get a magic item they want. I usually have an arcane guild somewhere in every city. They go there, and commision whatever item they may want. Of course, they may have to pay extra for a scroll that the wizard will copy into his spellbook, so he can craft the item...

I usually let em have whatever items they want. They'll just have to wait awhile while the mage crafts it, and they might have to pay extra for a scroll of the spell needed to make the item (not all creators will have all the spells necasary).
