    Ranger's Careful Attack house rule...

That would be broken to hell and back. The whole point of making it a power is that it takes your standard action, which means you're not doing anything else. Adding +4 to hit onto real powers, especially ones with attached status effects (and we haven't seen any of those, eh?) would be crazy...

    D&D 4E Rob Heinsoo on 4E PHB

It would be. However, the Wizard spell list makes me think that while they pretended to get rid of "spell levels", they are still in the game. You may choose a new spell each level, but you're picking from the same list as last level. Until you hit level X, when you unlock a new spell level...

Saving throws are a coin toss?

Well, the Pit Fiend stats say otherwise. Unless you think that one of the most powerful Demons around can be easily taken out by an equal-level wizard with a 1st level spell? That does make some sense, but I still think you're wrong. I think we'll see things more along the lines of follow-up...

Saving throws are a coin toss?

Psych studies show that people have the most fun with slightly more than 50% success rates. (Wizards quoted this once. Don't ask me where.) So 55% is just this side of even because, well, we like it that way. Notice that 55% comes up in other places too. For example, someone with a +5 attack...

    Warlock's Curse / Hunter's Quarry

Well, as soon as he actually charges, you can. Because he'll be closer than 15' away. Nice strawman, though.

Warlock's Curse, Fey Pact and a Bag o'Rats...

Anti-teleport magic better be common, or the world is doomed.

    Saving Throws?

No, I think you make one save per ability affecting you.

    Warlock's Curse / Hunter's Quarry

It's not at all illogical. Tons and tons of games have rules about only targeting the closest enemy. Why? Because in a real battle, you have to be incredibly disciplined to ignore the guy right in front of you and instead shoot at the people behind him. In other words, people prioritize targets...

    Fighter Cleave vs Minions?

FYI, I very much doubt a 20th level minion is worth the same xp as a 5th level normal. In fact, it will probably mop the floor with a party of 5th level characters.

    Healing

Don't know; it's some kind of status effect. Probably a flat penalty to everything. As for how you get it, both types of Bodak inflicted the weakened condition on their normal attacks, and it seems safe to assume that other undead life-draining abilities (or life-draining spells) will also...

    The Cleric Pregen

While that's true, I also noticed that the Cleric's at-will powers have a range of 5, and his others have a range of 10. The Wizard, meanwhile, has a range of 20 on all but one of his spells. Given that the charge range seems to be 14, that's a big difference. The Cleric's abilities do have...

Please someone tell me I missed something

A level 2 is worth 125 XP. The Pit Fiend is worth 18,000 XP. So no, 13 Goblins are not worth a bit fiend. A gross of Goblins Picador would be. It would be difficult to run, however.

D&D eXPerience: Core Mechanics (now compiled in 1st post!)

I knew I had seen "Slowed" before. It's in the minis rules! Duh. Is this all the same in the RPG?

D&D eXPerience: Core Mechanics (now compiled in 1st post!)

Question: What does "slowed" do? It's on a few of the PC powers, but I don't think I ever saw what the mechanic was.

    Paladin. Disappointing

I agree- the Paladin they've shown is just silly. Shielding Smite? Please. On the other hand, most of the other classes seems to fit well with their flavor. The fighter isn't doing anything un-fighterly, the wizard is great, and the warlock is different enough to not just be wizard 2. The...

D&D eXPerience: Core Mechanics (now compiled in 1st post!)

It is all but confirmed that Fort/Ref/Will take the better of Str/Con, Dex/Int, and Wis/Cha, respectively.

So Int does NOT add to skills

Hey, no one said that. I suspect that even if Reflex is Dex or Int, AC is still just Dex.

    Kobold Skirmisher

Cool. (Doh!) Thanks for posting. I notice that he has tons of HP for a first-level enemy. In fact, considering his mediocre Con he actually has more HP than most of the players do. I also really like his abilities: sneak attack (if reduced to 1d6) and free shifting (since he wouldn't be using...

    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

Nope. Although I would like to point out how stupid and nonsensical that "restriction" was. Sadly, we'll probably see a similar wording on the cleric's healing strikes and such.
