    Worst Beers Ever.

One of the worst tasting beers I've had, happens to hail from my own home state, and bares the nickname of the state, Lone Star. Gaw, that is one terrible tasting beer, just thinking of it brings the taste back, ack.

    Electronic Voice Phenomena: Terrifying.

Lets see, the preview of the movie did nothing to me. But as a plot hook for a modern campaign would rock. Having the PCs discussing their situation, on the phone/radio or infront of tv/computer and all of a sudden the sound turns staticy with a slightly garbled voice pleading for help, and...

    Non-gaming Gamers

I'm in gaming limbo too. Stretching nearly 2 years now. Of course my situations a bit different. Since the city had literally nothing (or almost nothing) to offer me in the way of a job along the lines of the degree I got in college I've had to look elsewhere for jobs. And I don't want to start...

At what age did you start gaming?

I learn the basics of the game in middle school, somewhere in the 11-13 age range (can't remember when I really started). It didn't have much of an influence on me until about my sophmore year of high school, those intervening years were filled with Magic: the Gathering, and Battletech (of which...

    Your favorite older edition products

Alright 1 & 2 can't be answered as they were before my time. 3. Caught this barely in middle school, as 2nd edition was coming out. Probably the Fiend Folio (as it was one of the few non-core books I looked at, and own) 4. Probably Planescape boxed set, as I was in a campaign using it for...

As a DM, which class do you wish your group played more?

The times I've DMed, the only core class that I've never had the pleasure of disembowling a druid (especially in a wildshape form, yum yum). Yeah, I think I'd like to DM a group with a druid in it. The class that gets overplayed when I DM, the Rogue, I usually have to beg for someone to pick...

How mainstream is D&D / RPGs

I've never hidden my hobbies, including RPGs, from my co-worker, the reason I don't talk about them is that it never came up in conversation. As to D&D being mainstream, yes it is. Is it popular or chic, nope. Heavy Metal music is mainstream, you mention you listen to heavy metal, and everyone...

So I'm buying a new computer

I would agree, just go to your local computer store and pick one up one (or order online) you should be able to get a machine $500-700 USD no prob. HPs (which are also Compaqs) are decent machines and for the casual user, which you are (me being a hardcore computer geek and all with a BS in...

20 D&D products in 2004; what did you buy?

Complete Arcane - Right now I plan to, but that can be repealed Complete Divine - Part of the reason I'm iffy on the previous (didn't buy) Deluxe DM Screens - nope Deluxe PC Sheets - nope Eberron Campaign Setting - Yep Expanded Psionics Handbook - Yep Frostburn - Right now, the answer is no...

Which ability score can you not live without?

Gotta go with Int, but Charisma comes in at a close second.

    Dragon #324 just came in

Yep, Red Steel I believe. And did like them as a race at that.

FLGS- Old Inventory and Organization UPDATE!!

I'm going with the crowd that says if I know I want it I'll order it online. But I'm a big impulse shopper, and if I like what I see then I'll buy it, of course, if I can't see it (for instance the book being shrinkwrapped) I won't buy it.

Do Entangle, Grease and Web ruin D&D?

Lets see grease and entangle I've got no problem with. Web, I've got no problem with, but I've seen the spell grind the game to a halt. Example: A large group of goblins were attacking the PCs who were 5th level I believe. When the wizard of the group cast Web, now none of the participants...

    What's in your CD/mp3 player?

Lets see Saliva - Survival of the Sickest (the latest album I picked up) Currently in my car CD player: Megadeth - The World Needs a Hero (Megadeth probably takes my favorite band category) Plus the obligatory (for the metalboy): Metallica Black Sabbath/Ozzy Pantera (Texas boy that I am)...

I've done it, my very first TPK...

You did nothing wrong. Killing the party happens, I've had a grand total of three TPKs, and uncounted numbers of near TPKs. Your players made the mistakes, not using items that could have helped in the encounter (the wand of icestorm and probably others as well), and when they were being toasted...

Is D&D unforgiving of mistakes in combat?

That sounds like my group of players (but I did have one player who liked some intel before he smashed the door down), but I've come to espect this from them and design encounters around this attitude, sometimes to take advantage of it and other times to lessen the blow (and my players always...

What is your favorite level to play as a player?

I picked 1-10, but to be honest, its not the level that does it for me as a player. Its just having fun. And most of the campaigns I had the most fun in were in 1-10 level range. Though mainly thats because the DMs couldn't handle a higher level campaign very well.

What is your favorite level to play as a DM?

I gotta go with 3-5, the first 2 levels is just survival. The levels after 5 let the player show how awesome he is. These levels are the levels where the most character developement occure, yet the players are still weak enough that a couple of hits are gonna scare them.

    Describe your FLGS

Corpus Christi, TX, a biggish city full of small minds; I appoligize to anyone who's visited and though Corpus is a nice city, but I'm very cynical these days about my home town. Anyways, Corpus's got a single lone gaming store, Armchair Commander. It's a good store overall, the staff knows...

    WotC Miniatures

I don't buy prepainted minis, simple, whether they're plastic, pewter, resin or whatever. So i choose neither as thats the closest to my view. Oh and I don't mind plastic minis so long as there's a way to paint them. (Still angry with Games Workshop; but I'm always angry with Games Workshop...
