    So I led a mutiny...

What you did, was often table talk for similar DMs I've had. The only time my group mutinied was with a railroading DM, who had taken the campaign out of my hands, and decided to take some magic items away from a character, that I had given the character (he though they made him too powerful)...

How do you record your game sessions?

Man as a DM I dream of someone like you. The best recorder I had, was a guy who jotted down NPC names and places on the edges of his character sheet. Usually I as the DM had to keep track of the records (never worked very well)

    Rant: Players who don't DM

I totally disagree with what your saying. Most people are scared to DM, partially because they're shy others because they don't think they can run a good game. I personally know this guy who was forced into DMing before he was ready. And when he didn't do a good job, we (I'll include myself)...

How can I please my DM?

First as a DM, here's something to never-ever-ever-ever do. Do not, repeat do NOT, try to run the game for the DM. That happened to me and I killed the game the next session. Yeah it made a few people unhappy, but the others understood. If you argue rulings, have a legitimate reason, not "you...

    Eberron - Cool or Drool?

My problem with Eberron, it doesn't seem to have anything that sets it apart from the masses. Yeah, the warforged, first time I heard the name, It didn't even pique my interest. After a little bit, yeah, they kinda interested me, but the curiosity quickly war off. And I've always loved...

    Slow Player

I had a player who couldn't keep his mind on the game, he was a really good guy, and if I got in trouble he'd help in a pinch, but he wouldn't shut up. In fact it was a common theme said around the table, "Ross Shut Up" you heard it three or four time during a session. Because of this he would...

Where you live: Gamer Paradise or Gamer Wasteland?

Is it just me or is most of Texas a gaming wasteland. Most of the post from this little corner of hell (and I say this lovingly) is a wasteland. With the notable exeption of Austin, and everyone that lives in Texas knows Austin is different (thats not bad). What about you living in Dallas or...

Where you live: Gamer Paradise or Gamer Wasteland?

Gaming Wasteland Corpus Christi, TX, we do have a decent gaming store. Too bad its overrun with toddlers who want to play their card games. And gaming conventions yeah right, shoot we just had the Velocity Games, and the city wants the promoters to pay for the toilet paper in the PUBLIC...

Which was your favorite setting from TSR/WotC?

It's Planescape, no wait Dark Sun, maybe Forgotten Realms, or .... . Arrrg, alright I'll choose Planescape, because I had some of the best adventures in that setting.

    Favorite Class

My all time favorite class it the bard. From 2e on (1e bard was too hard to do), I always love the class thats gets overlooked because it seems weak, but is so annoying it becomes a threat. If I had a second choice it would be the wizard.

How do I meet "mature" gamers?

Yeah know about the FLGS and getting the (use the term loosely because of where I'm from) degenerates. I was 24 (that was 2 years ago) and about to start a new game. I needed some players to flesh out the group. I chatted with two, and decided, maybe I better not go to the FLGS to find new...

    Average Combat Length

I'd say the games I've played in run 5-6 rounds. Mainly because, the group I played with half of us were tacticians, and using tactics and strategies can slow the game up. However, if the DM don't use tactics and the players do (as in the case of one campaign I played in) we wiped the floor with...

Should the DM "kill" a character?

Do I think killing a character after they've been dropped is wrong, or unfair. No the DM is fully in his/her rights to do so. I probably wouldn't have done it with the orc. But I have done it with undead and beasties. The player's have to know, of course, that you, as the DM, are going to do...

3 player party and no cleric, need advise

As Darklone said, your player's just gotta use different tactics. I actually prefer to DM parties without clerics. Because the cleric (even in 3.x) tends to only heal, and that player often gets board, sitting in the background waiting for on of the other players to yell medic.

How Many ENWorlders Have You Met?

None, but if you lived in the south end of Hades (south Texas), you wouldn't know anyone either. I mean, could there be a more backwards city than Corpus Christi

    Here Comes the Jury!

I'd say no, but that paladin's on the slippery slope, and next time wouldn't be so lenient

    R U Playing?

I would love to run a d20 modern, but here's why I don't play, and I'll quote a friend of mine "It would be like playing shadowrun", now substitute shadowrun with any modern or future game and thats the problem I have with running one. For some reason, I can't get people to use the d20 system in...

How to stop my players from doing these things?

The classic, you meet at the tavern seem a little old. Yeah, I avoid it too. This was an idea I was gonna implement, in a campaign that didn't get off the ground, and I did something similar to in an old Shadowrun game some years back. Have one character interview for the others for their...

    Tactics for a Dragon

First off, my scent thing was based on my memories (yeah, I remembered they had keen sense, but didn't realize it only applies to sight, stoopid if you ask me). Basically beat a stratigic (misspelled) retreat, you might have to take a spell or two, and the counterspelling thing might have...

The Line Between Real Earth & D20 Earth

If your going to run a campaign set in the era, IMO, you gotta keep it at least relativly authentic, but keep most of the racial tension on the side. Don't make them main line, just keep them for a little flavor. As a side. Us living in the U.S. from a German background really got ethicnally...
